October is already looking like an exciting month here in Pocklington. Brian Bilston, Paul Foot, Justin Moorhouse and Mark Simmons are all doing comedy shows in town; there's a live screening of James Norton's impressive West End performance in A Little Life; lots of live music acts from Ranagri to a Victoria Wood tribute night (!) and of course the return of Pocktoberfest! And if you can't wait for next month there's still a chance to catch the live Northern Soul play "Do I Love You" at the end of September.

Why not treat yourself to a couple of days off work, book in to Milliner's Cottage and let Pocklington work it's magic on you!

It was a treat to have author David Ebsworth and Ann, his wife, staying for a few days after the publication of his latest WW2 thriller "A Betrayal of Heroes". We learned a lot about La Nueve, a battalion of soldiers billeted in Pocklington and surrounding villages towards the end of the War, before they went on to be the first to liberate Paris, and more! And since one of the previous owners of our house, Mr Humble, was running his dairy from what is now Carpenters Cottage since at least 1939 it is highly likely that the soldiers of La Nueve came to the cottage where Dave and Ann were staying to get their milk and cheese. Funny how paths cross over the decades...
