Thank you from us to the fabulous duo of Jade and Max. You’ll be a hard act to follow but know that we’re in safe hands for our summer Après Beach Bar with music, delicious on site meals and cocktail bar led by the new General Manager from The Georgian House Hotel, Andrew and assisted by Rosie Evans as the new Events Manager and their team.
So, Best of luck to Jade and Max. We learnt a lot from you and enjoyed every minute!
A belated Meet The Team Monday.
(We promise to stop the Jade and Max Spam now) x x x
This is an ode to Max and Jade
A short history of their Alderney life
And the lasting impression they’ve made
Who was to know on that May twenty nineteen day
That their summer would turn into a 5 year stay
And in fact these ski bums that were here to play
Were in fact here to save the day
And like gifts from the gods
They’d save the GH against all odds
So let us tell you, some you already know,
A little more about this dynamic duo
Jade and Max, they come as a pair
Two pocket rockets with mountains of hair
Whilst vertically challenged and oh so small
These two are incredibly powerful
That first summer they got stuck in like no other
Jumping straight in without any bother
And thrown in the deep end without any fuss
It was soon very clear who was going to be boss
First up, Jade Maguire, wow what a lass
A lawyer, big sis (of 7), GH GM and a total bad ass
She is smart, she is wise, she’s an HR master
She’s dependable, she is dedicated, she can avert all disasters
She is loyal, she is kind, she is an epic multi tasker
She’s unflappable, she’s capable, a machine on the rota
There seems no end to her talent, nothing she can’t do
Expect when hungover she’s best friends with the loo
But above all she has been our rock on the rock
Through thick and through thin, she’s just doesn’t stop
Now Max might be second but definitely best
At many a thing with the hairiest chest
There is so much more to him than meets the eye
More than his moving of stuff from a to b, and back to a… all day
Much more than his marg prowess and his sweatiness
He is a work horse, a doer, a multi talent
He can set-up and pack down like a militant
He can butter rum and cook up a Mexican storm
He’ll fix almost anything and is always on form
He can party harder (and faster) than most
With boundless enthusiasm and never boasts
A bar tender, an office nerd and a demon KP
He’s adored and admired by so many
We’re going to miss how you just get on and ‘do’
Although, housekeeping will be pleased with less tees to put through
What makes these two even more special
Is how they work together like no other couple
They are amazing alone but better together
Even when Max is at the end of his tether
And with this mighty pair at the helm all this time
The GH & Co have been well in their prime
We expanded, we conquered, we didn’t topple
Even with Covid we felt unstoppable
A new garden bar, a horse box, a rather large team
It really did feel like the ultimate dream
There have been challenges along the way
Strange chefs, stranger KPs and staff floating away
Asian Hornets and floods and staff house conflicts
A small little virus to throw into the mix
But we overcame it all by pulling together
No matter what the Alderney weather
And never have we known two harder workers
Who never do anything in half measures
Working a mere twenty five thousand hours
30 plus weddings on beaches and up fort towers
Over 300 functions of differing size
At various locations island wide
And that bloody Box, who’s idea was that?
But they ran with it, owned it and also smashed that
Jade and Max, we’ll forever be grateful that you took a chance on our rock
Your legacy will live on beyond L’Etoc
From ruining all margs unless made by Max
And trying to move barrels but breaking our backs
From the adoption of various waifs and strays
Mere 7 straight shifts and 18 hour days,
Then podium dancing the night away
The systems, the detail and match of the day
You have set the bar high on many a count
Which will be here to stay without doubt
What you’re brought to Alderney, The G, and the community
Will never be forgotten with fondest of memories
We also now have friends for life
So this isn’t the end of our fun and strife
Now as victims of your own success
You go to New Zealand and please get some rest
But remember this will always be home,
You are like family on our little stone
Promise you’ll come back and stay one day
And we promise we won’t make you work everyday
Jade and Max, the most almighty thank you from everyone here,
And all of those you’ve touched over the years,
We wish you the happiest times in your next chapter
Wherever you end up they’ll be lucky to have ya
So let’s raise our glasses to the pair with the hair
Thank you, we’ll miss you, we love you,
And cheers to you two!
