*** CHARITY COMPETITION DEADLINE EXTENDED ***

We've extended the deadline for the Charity Competition! Why, well, there's a few reasons!

Firstly, being honest, sales haven't been quite what we'd hoped for, and whilst we want worthy winners, it's also important we raise as much money as possible for the Festival.

Second, with the Fèis being over a while ago, we've found many people still don't know the Competition is on - we've got plans to sort that this week!

We won't extend the deadline again, and the Competition will now end on Sunday, July 7 2024. 16:00. No further extensions - promise!

We'll announce the live draw date and time when we know!

Last chance for a walk from the house - so Lighthouse it must be. Two beautiful empty beaches, a walk through Carnmore Woods, and round to the Lighthouse. Pure magic. Picked up this amazing sea urchin that reminded me of turtle markings.

A satisfying if not sad hour of beach storm cleaning up the entrance onto beach from School Street
More plastic than tea in China. Shocking amount of micro plastics, fishing rope cut offs, and general plastic rubbish.
2 full bin bags and that was just a few square metres. Pleanty more to do.
Are there organised litter picks - if so this area is needing some serious effort.
Well done to the neighbour out yesterday who inspired us to get out and do something for the island and the environment.

10/02/2024

Tomorrow (Sunday) we’ll be down at the School Street beach picking up storm plastic. Spoke to one super-conscientious pollution environmentalist today and he’d collected 100’s of pieces of plastic, rope, and other nasties. There are 1000’s remaining.

Nice detour in the dark and rain via Crianlarich, Tyndrum and Inveraray to Kennacraig, followed by a very quiet, relatively smooth crossing on the Finlaggan to Port Askaig, Islay - 5 cars, 16 passengers for our 2hr crossing. Checked in to our nice clean comfortable accommodation, and settled in with chocolates, Netflix and bubbly. Let the holidays commence.🎅 🎄

Not long or far to go for all your Festive needs. Looks great. 🎄🤶
