When you come to the Isle of Man on your hols, you’re in for a treat at The Gaiety Theatre.

This week we saw Chicago and it was utterly fantastic 🤩. You could easily think this was a West End performance , with incredible voices and dancing, and a standing ovation 👏🏻.

Not only that, the Gaiety is simply beautiful with a fascinating history, and you can even do a theatre tour at the weekend to explore it with an expert guide.

Jump on a Victorian Steam Train from Port Erin to Douglas for full elegant effect, and it’s just a short walk from the station.

Definitely worth planning a visit as part of your trip. We can’t wait for the next production 🎭

Tonight, we proudly open the doors of the Gaiety Theatre for the first time in 2025, as we welcome Douglas Choral Union for their highly anticipated 10-show run of Chicago. The curtain rises at 7:30pm, with doors opening at 7:00pm.

Please note, throughout this run our bars will be open for pre-show and interval service, offering a selection of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. For your convenience, plastic, reusable drinkware will be available should you wish to take your drink to your seat and enjoy at your leisure. Bars will remain closed during the show. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask one of our team members, they're always happy to help.

Runner, writer and speaker Elise Downing chatted today on Radio 4 about the Isle of Man🇮🇲 and had great things to say!!

Elise ran 5,000 miles, self supported, around the British coast over the course of 10 months. Not only the youngest person, but the only female to have ever completed the challenge. Along the way she saw Britain at its wild and wonderful best!

She has written a book, Walk Britain, packed with inspiring ideas on how to get out and explore stunning locations. 90 different routes which can be completed on foot or accessible by public transport, and without a car.

Elise wanted to challenge the misconception that you can only get to wild remote places if you drive to them, but as she herself is a lover of car-free adventures, she wanted to make this the focus of her book.

When asked today on Radio 4 about her favourites that she would recommend, among them was our very own Isle of Man.

She visited for the literary festival and said “I fell in love with the Island, and they have an amazing public transport network of buses and steam-trains”.

Elise had enjoyed one of her car-free runs, travelling back to her starting point by steam-train, which she absolutely loved.

Thankyou Elise Downing, we can’t wait to read your book when its out on 6th February and check out the route out ourselves. It’s certainly one we will be suggesting to all our visitors.

We recently hosted a family at Seaspray who were relocating to the Isle of Man for a 10 week stay while they were waiting for their house purchase to complete.

Yesterday they kindly posted a 5 star review on TripAdvisor and this is what they had to say:

“We spent ten weeks in this beautiful property during the Autumn of 2024 while waiting to move into our new home. Port Erin is a lovely seaside town and Seaspray, located on the promenade is the perfect place to take full advantage of everything on offer. Apart from the magnificent sandy beach, shops, pubs and restaurants are all in short walking distance.

Warm days in September were spent sitting on the terrace overlooking the magnificent bay while the comfortable and cosy living room on the first floor (with views across the bay to Bradda Head) was the perfect place to ride out December storms.

For a longer term let, Seaspray‘s three large double bedrooms means having family or friends to stay is a real pleasure and the fully equipped modern kitchen and well appointed bathrooms make the property a proper home from home.

Fast internet and an ingenious workstation make the office/snug on the ground floor the perfect place to catch up with work. We loved our stay and although delighted to finally move into our new house we miss both Port Erin and Seaspray”

Seaspray is feeling very festive 🎄 What a treat to watch the waves with twinkly lights in the foreground 🌊

And to make it even cosier, today we’ve had a lovely carpet fitted in the ground floor snug so it’s now a really relaxing retreat 😌

We had a lovely family staying at Seaview last week. They really enjoyed the beach and making the most of Port Erin.
