David Williams-Ellis, the internationally known sculptor whom was commissioned to create the D-Day sculpture also David was commissioned to create 5 T.E.Lawrence Maquettes and is hoped a full size sculpture will be sited at the Birthplace of T.E .Lawrence in Tremadog Snowdon Lodge Group Accommodation. Birthplace of Lawrence of Arabia in North Wales is on the market
The picturesque village of Tremadog near Porthmadog is know for its rich maritime history and one property in particular carries more historic importance than most.
Snowdon Lodge, the Grade II Listed group accommodation on Church Street, is the birthplace of T. E. Lawrence. *Born of the 16 August 1888, Lawrence was a British archaeologist, army officer, diplomat, and writer who became renowned for his role in the Arab Revolt (1916–1918) and the Sinai and Palestine Campaign (1915–1918) against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War. The breadth and variety of his activities and associations, and his ability to describe them vividly in writing, earned him international fame as Lawrence of Arabia, a title used for the 1962 film based on his wartime activities.
Lawrence was also a keen motorcyclist and it was believed that he owned eight Brough Superior motorcycles at different times. Unfortunately his passion is what ultimately led to his untimely death.
**On 13 May 1935, Lawrence was fatally injured in an accident on his Brough Superior SS100 motorcycle in Dorset close to his cottage Clouds Hill, near Wareham, just two months after leaving military service. It is understood that that he lost control and was thrown off the bike after trying to avoid two boys on their bicycles. Six days later, on 19 May 1935, Lawrence sadly passed away due to his injuries at the age of 46.
Following his death one of the attending doctors, neurosurgeon Hugh Cairns began a study into the loss of life through head injuries. His research led to the use of crash helmets which, to this day, results in saving the lives of many motorcyclists.
Throughout Snowdon Lodge you’ll find posters and information dedicated to Lawrence and to the history that the property holds. The iconic landmark can now be yours as the freehold of the property is now on the market with leisure property specialists Fleurets.
Currently owned by Carl and Anja Borum, the couple have decided that after 20 years it is time to hang up their boots and retire from the trade to focus on their family, grandkids and Anja’s osteopathic career. “We have run the business part time having previously operated a B&B down the road,” said Carl. “Following the sale of that business, we focused on a large scale refurbishment of Snowdon Lodge to upgrade facilities and add extra rooms, new en-suites, a large games room as well as conference facilities.”
“We’ve run Snowdon Lodge as a lifestyle business so there is enormous potential for a new owner to take the business to the next level,” Anja added.

When 2 become 1 - remember that Spice Girls song?

Well, we have a case of 2 becoming 1 here at Snowdon Lodge. The chaos phase of knocking down has begun.

Room 5 and 6 (the two small double rooms with shared facilities) will become one lush en-suite twin room which will be added to our core rental package increasing it from 7 to 8 en-suite rooms.

We are sorry to say goodbye to the pink in room sinks before they become “retro”.

We will keep you updated on progress!

PS: Someone is a little camera shy but deserves all the credit when it’s done 😀
