Well the washing is just about dry from the last one. I'm off to Barcelona tomorrow, to join the stunning Scarlet Lady on Sunday for a 7 night Irresistible Med & Rome cruise. 😍

The cruise includes an overnight in Ibiza so we are on the guest list for PIKES (let's hope the drinks ARE free at Club Tropicana)

Can't wait to update you all along the way with my findings.

A Honeymoon Paradise: Our Dream Holiday in Playa del Carmen
We owe a huge thank you to Zoe for finding the perfect honeymoon spot. Her expert recommendations led us to Secrets Moxché in Playa del Carmen, an adults-only haven of relaxation and romance that exceeded our expectations. It was truly a dream come true.

A Smooth Start & Luxurious Arrival
We started our journey with a comfortable private transfer to Gatwick Airport. Zoe arranged Fast Track security, which saved us valuable time. Then, we relaxed in the luxurious No1 Lounge, complete with delicious food, drinks, and comfy seating.
Our flight on the TUI 787 Dreamliner was comfortable, offering complimentary meals and drinks (except for a few snacks). Arriving in Cancun was stress-free, and we easily found our private transfer to the resort. The driver entertained us with fascinating local insights about politics, Mayan culture, and cuisine.

A Dream Suite & Warm Welcome
Upon arrival at Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen, we were speechless. The breathtaking ocean views were matched by the warm and professional welcome. We were greeted with cool towels, a glass of bubbly, and a porter who escorted us to the Preferred Club check-in area. This offered a quicker process, with all-day snacks and juices.

Our room was a stunning Preferred Club Junior Suite Swim Out, complete with a private pool – larger than expected, thanks to a wonderful surprise arranged by Zoe! A chilled bottle of bubbly awaited us in the room, a perfect touch to start our honeymoon.
Culinary Delights & Exceptional Service

We used a handy tablet in our room to explore the resort's fantastic restaurants and daytime and evening activities. After a refreshing dip in our pool, we enjoyed a delicious meal at the Ember Grill restaurant. Everything was included except lobster and a few steak options.

Most restaurants didn't require reservations, allowing for a relaxed dining experience. One night, there was a short wait at the French restaurant, but the scenic stroll around the resort was no hardship.
Beyond the poolside bliss, the resort's culinary offerings were a delightful surprise. We indulged in various delicious dishes, from traditional Mexican flavours to international cuisine.

For an unforgettable experience, we highly recommend the Taco Experience. For a $200 surcharge, we enjoyed seven unique tacos paired with regional drinks. When our exceptional host, Paulina, who was knowledgeable and friendly, learned it was our honeymoon, she surprised us with a delicious cheesecake from the Ember restaurant.

As Preferred Club guests, we received a complimentary 60-minute hydrotherapy session – the perfect way to unwind. We indulged in the sauna, steam room, cold dip, hydro massage, and whirlpool bath. I also treated myself to a deep tissue massage from Kenia, which was the best massage I've ever had. The spa is a haven of relaxation and is highly recommended for anyone seeking rejuvenation.

Poolside Bliss & Delicious Eats
The resort boasts ten incredible pools, but we were drawn to two favourites. Poolside bars open at 10 a.m., offering refreshing drinks and attentive service. The Bearfoot Grill, located between the pools, serves delicious pizza, burgers, BBQ ribs, and more, delivered directly to our loungers occasionally.

We explored various restaurants within the resort, including Italian, French, and Japanese. On our last night, we wanted to revisit the Mexican restaurant for a la carte dining, but unfortunately, it was closed.

One evening, the resort catered for street food around the pool and beach, offering a delightful sampling of regional Mexican cuisine.

Mornings to Mornings: Dining Options Galore
Breakfast was a feast for all senses, featuring traditional Mexican dishes alongside international options like omelettes, pancakes, waffles, and more. Lunch offered a variety of choices, with buffets similar to breakfast and an a la carte Mexican lunch option on the rooftop with breathtaking views.

The resort's chillout music provided a serene soundtrack to our days – by the pool, on the beach, and along the resort's walkways. Evenings offered exciting shows in the theatre, and the on-site pharmacy transformed into a speakeasy bar after dark. A convenient shop provided anything we needed during our stay, from necessities to souvenirs.

A Serene Escape
One of my favourite things about our stay was lounging by the pool, soaking up the sun, and sipping refreshing cocktails. The tranquil atmosphere, gentle waves, and lounge music in the background created the ideal environment for reading and unwinding. We loved the handcrafted coffees and matcha lattes in their 24/7 coffee shop, which was also part of the All-Inclusive.
Unforgettable Moment/s

The highlight of our honeymoon was undoubtedly our private pool, the exceptional staff's warm hospitality, and the peaceful atmosphere of an adults-only resort. We truly cherished every moment of our stay at Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen, which will forever hold a special place in our hearts. From the luxurious accommodations to the exceptional service, every detail was perfect. We are truly grateful for the unforgettable memories we made and the opportunity to experience such a magical destination.

Eu officials have confirmed that Britons travelling to Europe next Summer will need to apply for a visa waiver. This will be called the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS)

The visa waiver will cost €7 for people aged 18-70. There will be no charge for children and those over 70.

It will last for three years, or until the holder’s passport expires, whichever comes first.

Passengers will apply online or via a mobile app and most applications will be approved within minutes, although there may be more complex cases that will take longer.

As part of the application process, ‘full disclosure’ is required regarding an applicant’s background, including travel history and any criminal record.

My visit to the Celebrity Apex today in Southampton was nothing short of extraordinary.

The ship's design is stunningly luxurious, with delightful quirks at every turn, from the rooftop garden to the magic carpet. It's no surprise that the Apex is a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rated resort at sea.

Dining aboard the Apex is a treat, with four complimentary main dining experiences: Cosmopolitan, Tuscan, Cyprus, and Normandie, alongside four casual dining venues. Additionally, there are seven specialty dining venues for those looking for something extra.

The ship boasts an impressive array of bars and lounges—eight bars and four lounges, each with its own unique ambiance. The Martini Bar was a highlight, featuring a DJ upon our arrival and a guitarist/singer later in the day. Silent discos also take place in this vibrant area.

Eden, located at the aft of the ship, truly lives up to its name. By night, it transforms into a magical space, complete with a restaurant. I can easily imagine spending hours here, watching the wake as the ship sails toward the next adventure.

The Club is a must-visit later in the evening, offering live bands, DJs, and aerialists for entertainment.

The theatre is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, featuring a 20-foot tall, 4K LED screen that curves 110 feet around the space. There is no backstage, immersing you entirely in the performance. During our visit, it showcased an aquarium scene that was incredibly lifelike.

For those who like to stay active, the state-of-the-art gym includes Peloton bikes, and there are opportunities for yoga on the terrace. Alternatively, the thermal suite and spa offer 120 different treatments.

Families are catered for with Camp At Sea, and the ship is an autism-friendly cruise line. However, the activities may be more suited to older children, as it lacks the water slides and other features found on sister company Royal Caribbean ships.

The Celebrity Apex accommodates 2,910 passengers with a staff-to-guest ratio of 2:1. The service is exceptional; within 15 minutes at the Martini Lounge, three different waiters checked if we needed anything.

Although we didn’t get to see any staterooms due to the ship being fully booked, the rest of the ship suggests they are equally impressive. Some staterooms feature infinite verandas, and the suites are unparalleled. The Edge Villa, for instance, spans 739 square feet over two stories, complete with a private terrace and plunge pool.

Would I sail on the Celebrity Apex? Absolutely, without hesitation. It’s a perfect 10/10.

The typical guest on Celebrity Cruises falls into the 40s and 50s age bracket, with most passengers being adults and only a few children on board.
