Our company is called Freedom Adventure for a number of reasons, (not purely because we live for adventure and the Freedom it brings).

It also means - in part, that we bring Freedom to others that would otherwise live very limited existences due to poverty and limited opportunities in small villages amd settlements.

Did you know that we have a programme where we help children and young adults in Nepal to broaden their horizons, offering opportunities to leave their small villages to train as sherpas and guides, and to work in tourism? Our founder is passionate about opening doors to those less fortunate, and helping people realise their full potential. Inspirational!

This weekend we decided to venture up to Norway to explore some of the stunning scenery! Flying into Oslo and tabbing out into the sticks under the cover of darkness, we pitched up next to this incredible lake to admire the views and experience a Scandinavian sunrise!

✈ The aircraft used to fly you from Kathmandu to Tenzing Hillary Airport aren't particularly spacious but are a perfect size for you and your expedition team mates! The excitement you feel boarding and flying in one of these birds really adds to the adventure and really brings you out of your comfort zone, but rest assured the flights are comfortable and provide incredible views of the beauty below!

Freedom Adventure! What does it mean to you?

Freedom, generally, is having the ability to act or change without constraint. Something is "free" if it can change easily and is not constrained in its present state. In philosophy and religion it is associated with having free will and being without undue or unjust constraints, or enslavement, and is an idea closely tied with the concept of liberty. A person has the freedom to do things that will not, in theory or in practice, be prevented by other forces. Outside of the human realm, freedom generally does not have this political or psychological dimension. A rusty lock might be oiled so that the key has the freedom to turn, undergrowth may be hacked away to give a newly planted sapling freedom to grow, or a mathematician may study an equation having many degrees of freedom. In physics or engineering, the mathematical concept may also be applied to a body or system constrained by a set of equations, whose degrees of freedom describe the number of independent motions that are allowed to it.

An adventure is an exciting experience that is typically bold, sometimes risky or undertaking. Adventures may be activities with some potential for physical danger such as travelling, exploring, skydiving, mountain climbing, scuba diving, river rafting or participating in extreme sports. Adventures are often undertaken to create psychological arousal or in order to achieve a greater goal such as the pursuit of knowledge that can only be obtained in a risky manner.

Today in the UK it is our so called "Freedom Day" after and incredibly difficult 16 months of having our liberty restricted (all be it for the protection of our Country). We can't wait to get back to normal and resume exercising our Freedom by pursuing Adventure!

What does anxiety look like in picture form...The runway at Tenzing Hillary Airport! Also known as Lukla Airport, it gained worldwide fame as it was rated the most dangerous airport in the world for more than 20 years by a program titled Most Extreme Airports, broadcast on The History Channel in 2010.

You can feel the tension and apprehension as you wait for your (often delayed) flights, but also get a sense of the excitement felt by arrivals on the first step of their Everest journey!
