In July, 2024, we were presented with these to commemorate 50 Years of town twinning with Lichtenfels in Franconia, Bavaria. Very apt given the European Championships had just taken place. Half Scotland and half Germany.
Look out for these making a public appearance in the new year. Let's show them off to the towns folk of Prestwick along with the many other gifts received over the years.

From the recent visit to South Ayrshire Council's Prestwick Room, this is the newly tidied cabinet, showing gifts that have been received from our Sister Towns over the period of 50 years. Watch this space for a full inventory of the gifts that have been received by the PTTA/ South Ayrshire Council.

In July a group from Prestwick visited Lichtenfels in Franconia, Germany to celebrate 50 years of twinning. The actual anniversary is November 2024 and during the year we will run a number of community events and activities.

At the official celebrations held in Lichtenfels Castle we came across a huge wooden box in the form of a book. It held numerous archives from those years of twinning and one entry in particular captured our attention. This shows thank you letters from a number of pupils in Heathfield Primary school in 1994 and some of the class themselves.

Names we have are: KIRSTEN MILLAR, ALISTAIR CREE, LYNDSEY PO***CK, JANINE FEARN, KIRSTY BELL, MICHELLE CAMPBELL, AMANDA MCSHANE and a girl called CLAIRE.

If you are one of these pupils from this class we would like to hear from you. We are looking to make contact with anyone in the community who has hosted or been involved with Prestwick Town Twinning Association over those years.

Spread the word and see how many we can find.

This link will take you all to Lichtenfels. It is a very good article and highlight a lot of things we know and have visited.
Enjoy.
For those of you yet to visit....join us. You are in for a treat.

Lichtenfels is located on the Obermain river in Franconia. The town was once a stronghold of the basket trade. The charming landscape is ideal for excursions

Fabulous memories made in Lichtenfels to commemorate 50 years of building ties of lasting friendship, business and educational links between our cities.
Here's to the next 50 and to continuing to grow the European community links for generations to come.

A number of members from the PTTA had a very enjoyable Wine Tasting last Friday night, where several members brought along their favourite Rose, White and Red wines and gave a small talk about the history of their chosen brand and where it could be purchased. A few games and some songs from Ken O'Hara and myself topped off another excellent social event for the group.

Here are a few mobile phone photos and videos from the evening.

From a brilliant night in Prestwick's 65 Club for the PTTA, this is the first of several videos taken and is of a short play called the Crown v Tam O Shanter.

In the play, we have the following characters

The Judge played by Colin Hyslop
The Prosecuting Lawyer played by Jolyn Lynn Crawford
Kate O'Shanter played by Pixie Broon
Tam O'Shanter played by David Vennard, and
The Bailiff played by Ken O'Hara

It is a really funny wee play written by Lesley Deschner and introduced by Rhona Allanach.

Apologies to the ladies and David for screwing up the recording, but it still gives a good account of the play and the great reaction from those in the room..

Thanks to all of the members and non-members of the Prestwick Town Twinning Association who provided a suitably rowdy and entertained audience on the night.
