Thailand

Travelled in December.
1st Stop Phuket Kata Beach for 3 nights. Over an hour. Private transfer. Didn't know what to expect. It's busy. Long sprawling clean beach with lots of sunbeds and umbrellas.

All types of restaurants available and shopping if you want it. Never seen so many 7 11 shops!

Lots of boat trips available to various islands.

We then booked a ferry to Phi Phi which is stunning. 2hr ferry trip. Hotel sent a long boat to pick us up as no cars, buses etc on the island. Stayed in a traditional style hotel on a clean sandy beach. Clear water with fish swimming around your feet. Few monkeys on the beach one with its baby hanging on. Food so reasonable. 2 courses with a couple of beers for around £14pp.

We ventured out to the main town of Tonsia and a hive of activity and streets full of all type of shops, bars and restaurants and trips to various parts of Phi Phi. Highly recommend.

So day 7 took ferry to Koh Lanta. Stunning adult only beach front hotel on a 3km stretch of beach. It was great taking an early morning walk and seeing so many colourful birds. Then a great choice for breakfast.

Happy hour between 12-2pm and 5,-7pm. So why not have a cocktail 2 for £5. Bargain.! Pina colada went down nicely so did the Singapore sling.

2 Massages on the beach £6 each for an hour!

Stop 4 Krabi. We did stay in Ao Nang which was the hub of the area. Night market with crocodile meat or try a fried icecream.

We hired a private long tail boat £70 for the day and visited various islands.

A few ladyboys selling their shows!

Massages in the beach for £5. Superb.

Monkeys being cheeky trying to steal from everyone

Would I visit or recommend Thailand then yes and will revisit. But will try some of the other islands and areas.

Travel to Paphos
Kim and I were lucky enough to escape for a few days in December.
We stayed at the Athena Hotel in Paphos.
It was a 20 minute transfer to our hotel, upon arriving we were greeted by the hotel staff and our bags were taken to our room.The rooms were spacious and clean and our view from the balcony was amazing,the hotel is a stones throw to the beach.
I always thought Cyprus would be a little chilly in December,but no it was in the 20s,were we could wear shorts and vest tops.
The town of Paphos was about 30 minutes walk along the sea front,where there were restaurants and shops.So if you were thinking of going away somewhere warmer than the UK in December and a short flight and shorter transfer,try Cyprus
