In outstanding walking and cycling area close to the Elan Valley.
Having struggled since the beginning of June with a serious shoulder injury, I have been unable to trim the hedge outside the kitchen window!! However today I managed to get up the ladder and cut some of it, not brilliantly but at least guests can now wash up looking at the view. Sincere apologies to those who haven’t been able to enjoy it
Not only do we have the Enduro World Championship near Rhayader this weekend but the Minis are great to see in Elan Valley

Lovely walk in Gilfach Nature Reserve yesterday , (just 2 miles from Cuckoo Hill Lodge,) despite the damp conditions. Lots of primroses along the river bank but not many bluebells yet

Our very own Pump Track can be found on the western side of Rhayader.
From the centre of Rhayader (The Town Clock), head for the Elan Valley. Travel along West Street passing the local shops and public houses, carry on towards Rhayader Bridge passing Clive Powell Bike Sales, Repair and Hire on the way. Your journey will descend down a small hill, you will notice Mid Wales Holiday Lets on the right hand side of the main road and a turning directly opposite to the left. Turn down the left road and follow it to the bottom and around to the left.

What a fabulous start for our weekend guests. Probably the best day this year (so far)!
Well our guests this week have seen the area in all weathers; warm sun ( for an hour or two) rain, hail, bitter wind and this morning a frost. But the sun is now out and hopefully it will be a lovely day for them

Well after 3 nice days ( even if cloudy it hasn’t been raining) this morning it is very wet. However the daffodils in the garden will hopefully brighten our guests day

Wow! WHAT A DAY!
From the registration marshalls this morning to all those who spent literally hours in the rain, snow, sleet and cold making sure our runners were safe to the handing out of medals to selling merchandise, working the announcements, lead and sweep cyclists and vans and all the other things that the runners don’t really see

Despite the weather a great race which couldn’t happen without our huge band of volunteers.
An equally big thank you to all the support services live St johns ambulance Raynet Wales The portaloos people, Rhayader Rugby Club, Splitsecondtiming, Sians remedial massage, M&S Woodfired pizza, Ieu the Fry and all the other organisations and stalls who came along.

It was tough out there today but big respect to all who ran in both races. Thanks for your support.

So much rain but the water is spectacular flowing over Caban Coch Dam in The Elan Valley, just 10 minutes by car from Cuckoo Hill Lodge
It may be damp and windy again today but the river in Gilfach Nature Reserve is very full after all the rain. I just love to hear this
It might be dull but still beautiful for a Boxing Day walk
