Dyserth WI

Dyserth WI Dyserth WI is for women of all ages. We meet on the 2nd Friday of each month to gain knowledge, share skills, support each other and have FUN.

We're not just Jam and Jerusalem! We have both speakers and demonstrations. Meetings give us an opportunity to share views on topics of importance to women and families. In addition we have many trips and outings which you can save up for in our members savings club. The WI is a national organisation with a long and proud history - come along and be part of it. It isn't all Jam and Jerusalem.

We did even better at the Denbigh and Flint Show than realised. Here is Moira's fabulous portrait which was awarded a Third place. It was omitted in error from last night's round up. I'm sure we can all recognise the subject .

Dyserth did really well at today's Denbigh and Flint Show. Jacquie, Moira and Kath received the Rosebowl for their combined entry 'Picnic at Hanging Rock. Linda collected the trophy on Dyserth's behalf and then passed it on to the successful th*****me. We also gained two other firsts (Kath for her waistcoat and Jennie for her sweets).
We gained 4 second places (Corrina for her sweets, Janice for her cheese and tomato quiche and Jacquie for both her biscotti and her driftwood sculpture) and 4 third places (Corrina for her biscotti and her lace scarf, Jennie for her blackcurrant jelly and Sue for her cheese and tomato quiche).
Success continued with Highly Commended for Josie's blackcurrant jelly and Sue's watercolour.
Well done everyone, let's do even better next year!

Good afternoon members. We have secured a space on the High Street to promote our WI during the Classic Car Show. We have a table and plenty of promotional material to recruit new members but it would be great if someone could loan a parasol and base for the day to protect us from the sun (🤞). Please message if you have one to lend us for the day. Many thanks in advance. Sue

Next week's walk will be at Talacre. Met at the car park by 10am on the way to Talacre. Turn left at the roundabout which signposts Talacre, there is a left hand turn/fork as you drive towards Talacre, this will lead you to the small car park. Last time we were there the parking charge was 20p.
There is a cafe that can be accessed from there, it opens at 9.30am, we will go there for coffee after our walk.

What a wonderful day out at Powys Castle and Gardens....even the husbands enjoyed it! It was interesting to go around the House with it's fascinating collections. We were blessed with dry, warm weather which made the wanderings around the Gardens particularly pleasant. Everyone was particularly enchanted by the baby peacocks (it was suggested that they might be called chickpeas!) and we even spotted some of the 'friendly tigers' hiding in the shrubbery!

This Wednesday we will be making a driftwood project for the Denbigh and Flint show, the theme is the film Castaway. You will need to bring some driftwood and a suitable base for your project and an idea of what you want to do. Anyone who wants to do their own driftwood project is also welcome. Jacqueline would be grateful if anyone who has a glue gun could bring it along.
