Back to Blighty after a few days in the sun and I have to say, whether you like the Brutalist architecture of the National Theatre or not, it's a great place to people watch and sketch. As for me I'm undecided but it certainly is provocative 👍😁

Last week we spent a few days in Calella, Spain - only an hour and a half's flight from our local airport. After a day on the beach we wandered around tiny streets looking for a bite to eat and found a lovely courtyard for dinner and a quick sketch👍😁

There's a great step outside St Paul's Station in London, ideal to sit and sketch the wedge shaped Blackfriar Pub. Built in 1875 on the site of a former medieval Dominican Friary which serves a perfectly poured cask ale. 👍😁 ❤️

It always fascinates me how urban architecture throws up little surprises. How this tiny Gothic Church has remained unchanged throughout the centuries as other buildings gradually encroached, until it became surrounded by looming blocks of flats and rows of guest houses in Bournemouth.❤️

Just a snippet from so many highlights enjoyed on our recent Urban Sketching escape to Barcelona! Created in Pen and Ink.

Enjoying a few Gaudi highlights while on an Urban Sketching Tour of Barcelona! I set 20 minutes to capture each subject in pen, travelling by foot, bus and train. Really enjoying the freedom of quick, loose sketching.

An Urban Sketching day spent in Oxford. Working at speed, I quickly sketched this beautiful historic building and exaggerated the perspective for dramatic effect. By using a combination of no more than 8 blendable markers I was able to complete the sketch in a nearby cafe with my obligatory cappuccino.
