It has been a long time coming due to us being busy over the last couple of months and although a little delayed we would like to introduce our new chief pilot, Captain Tim Piper.

Cpt Piper has been flying for a number of years and has always had a keen interest in helicopters, after becoming an instructor he spent a large amount of time teaching students to fly helicopters. He then expanded this further and became a flight examiner.

To date he has flown lots of different types of helicopters such as the R22, R44, Cabri G2, EC120, AS350 and the AS355. Whilst flying these types he has gained thousands of hours of flying experience and is a fountain of knowledge.

We are delighted to have him join our team.

Whilst we were away with 2 helicopters at the Grand Prix, 1x AS355 doing Medivac and another AS355 doing aerial filming, G-PASH was away busying doing more aerial filming over London.

Another one of our AS355’s is at Silverstone and ready to spring into action ahead of todays qualifying for the Silverstone - F1 British Grand Prix.

G-BPRI has been on station at Silverstone since Thursday in the capable hands of our chief pilot Cpt Tim Piper, this aircraft is on standby in the event of a collision that requires drivers to be taken to hospital quickly by air.

Between Cpt Tim Piper & Cpt Tony Gray they have thousands of hours flying helicopters in all sorts of dynamic environments meaning they are perfect for the relevant jobs they are carrying out this weekend to support F1.

This weekend we are doing the aerial filming at Silverstone for the F1, Its an honour to be able to be carrying out multiple roles for the British Grand Prix with this being just one of them.

We are lucky to have Tony behind the controls of the camera ship this weekend. Tony is one of the most experienced and well known aerial filming pilots in the UK having filmed the Formula 1 and Isle of Man TT multiple times before.

A great start to the week with some of the Excel pilots undertaking training sorties ahead of the Silverstone Grand Prix this weekend.

We are going to be providing the aerial
filming as well as medical evacuation for the race so if you are heading to Silverstone and you see our team flying give them a wave! 🚁
