Today is Beer Day Britain, and as the celebration falls on a Saturday this year there’s all the more reason to indulge in a drop of your favourite beer and raise a glass to our national beverage!

On Beer Day Britain we’re encouraged to celebrate Britain’s beer heritage by joining the national Cheers To Beer at 7pm on 15th June.

We're delighted to say that there will be a display about Beatson Clark's wartime contributions, from manufacturing sticky bombs to attack German tanks to the women who worked in the glassworks while the young men were away on active service.

On World Environment Day we're reminding anyone who'll listen about the environmental benefits of glass packaging.

🌍 According to FEVE, 45% of consumers choose glass packaging because of its environmental credentials.

🌍 Glass is 100% infinitely recyclable with no loss in strength or quality. Closed loop recycling means that a recycled glass container becomes a new glass container, without waste.

🌍 Currently over 74% of the UK glass container waste stream is recycled.

🌍 The majority of our post consumer recycled glass (cullet) is generated by our own onsite recycling plant.

🌍 We process approx. 42,000 tonnes of glass which is recovered from kerbside collections, bottle banks and the hospitality trade. This is then melted in our furnaces and made into new bottles and jars.

It's a truly closed loop system!

We're sponsoring this fantastic scheme again this year and looking forward to raising lots more cash for our friends at Bluebell Wood.

Last year they collected 2,070 real trees and raised £33,319!

As it’s we’re taking the opportunity to let you know what kinds of glass you can and can’t recycle!

Please don’t put used light bulbs into your recycling bin. They’re made of heatproof glass, they’re often coated with special substances and they may contain metallic components.

All of this can cause problems if they’re melted down with other types of glass.

To mark 2023 we’re reminding everyone what kinds of glass you can and can’t recycle!

We love to use recycled glass to make new containers, but not all types of glass can be used in production.

For instance, we love beer bottles, but we can’t recycle glass cookware like Pyrex jugs as they're made from borosilicate glass which can withstand temperature changes.

It won’t melt properly in our glass furnaces and can cause serious problems in production.
