Yesterday was the final day of the 4499 pairs winter league, with one of the tightest finales in years seen 5 teams in with a shout of winning the competition if certain things went their way.
The eventual winners were “Team Ant & Del” consisting of our course manager and the number 3 golfer in the Smith Dynasty , Derek ”birdie” Smith and whin bush enthusiast Iain Lowry, who held their nerve and scored 47 points to win the competition outright by 3 points, from “team Weirdfish” Willie Glen and Ewan McTaggart who finished second.
Del now proclaims his wee flat now holds more trophies than the parkhead one, but not quite as much as the one at Ibrox.
Some turn around that though as it resembled the one at StJames park only a year or so ago.
Well done Del and Iain.
Third place were the longtime leaders handsome princes, Iain Simpson and Iain McDonald, with “Turner and Hooch” Gary Steele and Jimmy Crawford in 4th.
Thanks once again go to out sponsors the Zan-Kreyser family for their continued support to the Winter League pairs. We look forward too next years event.
The singles sponsored by West Coast Motors was won by John Duncan, who pipped Bobby Liddell on the final day, with Michael Dodds in 3rd place and John McArthur 4th.
Thanks once again also go out to sponsors West Coast Motors and thanks to depot manager and number 1 golfer in the Smith Dynasty Allan for presenting the prizes. Unfortunately John was away on holiday and not present for a photo.
