Our destination of the month is Alberta, Canada!
This spectacularly scenic province is a nature lover’s and outdoor enthusiasts’ paradise, with six national parks and over 460 provincial parks to explore.
Encompassing shimmering lakes, towering mountains, endless forests and sprawling prairies, these beautiful habitats are perfect for outdoor adventures and offer some incredible wildlife viewing opportunities.
Thousands of miles of hiking trails connect mountain vistas to tumbling waterfalls and urban pathways, so whatever your hiking experience or ability there will be a trail for you.
Adventurers will revel in the chance to climb, or bike through the craggy peaks of Banff and Jasper, or perhaps white-water raft on their mountain rivers. For a more sedate experience you can fish or paddleboard lakes and gentle waterways.
Alberta’s landscapes can also be explored by horseback. Join a short ride followed by a traditional cowboy cook out or choose a multi-day adventure where you can truly appreciate the wilderness.
Wildlife is plentiful throughout the national parks, with common sightings including grizzly bears, elk and golden eagles. Nearly 600 species can be found in Alberta, including rarer animals such as wolves, lynx or wood bison.
Led by experienced indigenous guides, the Jasper Tour company offer entertaining and informative wildlife excursions that follow in the footsteps of their ancient ancestors.
