The one constant at Meadow Field and Home Farm is the gorgeous chitter chatter of bird life. The best backing track, in my opinion, that there ever can be. Here are 4 birds I have spotted in the last couple of days.
Wren - Such a dinky little speck of a bird, sometimes it can be easy to miss. Currently flitting in and out of the bushes surrounding my garden, feeding—I believe by the high-pitched chirruping—a brood of chicks nestled deep and safe (fingers crossed) amongst the branches and leaves.
Green Woodpecker - Only this morning, I saw it perched on the fence outside the kitchen window. With its distinctive swooping flight and "Woody the Woodpecker" laugh of a call, they really are a joy to see.
Kite - Gliding high in the sky, this bird of prey truly is a relaxing and calming bird to observe. Its trademark V-shaped tail makes it easy to identify.
Pied Wagtail - Twice this year, we have had a pied wagtail make a nest among the logs in our log store. Once in April, a nest of 4, and currently a nest of 3, who have literally just hatched in the last day or two. Based on the April brood, and so long as the parents are able to successfully find food for them (the recent rain and humid weather will help bring out the grubs and bugs), it will literally be a matter of 2 weeks or so before these birds will have fledged. (Scroll down to see some photos of the April chicks' progress).

So, somebody (uh, me) is celebrating their 40-something (🙊🤫) birthday today. So, seeing as it has been a minute or two since I last showed my face, I thought it only fitting to jump on and say hi to all our followers!

Let me introduce myself. This is me, Jules, the heart and soul of Meadow Field Luxury Glamping, with the lovely Lennie, who is now 2, although it feels like she has been with us forever.

There are many things important to me, none more so than looking after my guests and making sure they have the best possible time in our fabulous canvas cabins. I can't quite believe I have been doing this now for almost 5 years!

But when I am not being the “hostess with the mostest,” there is nothing more fulfilling for me than doing the things and being with the people I love the most!
Which are (in no particular order):
❤️ spending time with my amazing family
❤️ and my beautiful dog
❤️ and my fabulous friends
❤️ looking after my well-being
❤️ by taking time for me
❤️ being outdoors and in nature
❤️ regular yoga practice
❤️ enjoying the moment

❤️ being chief s’mores taster 😋
❤️ eating wood-fired pizza 😍
....which I plan to do tonight with a glass of something to celebrate. 🥳🥂

Our gorgeous goslings – then and now!
First spotted at Pondwood at the end of April, and now – at the end of July, they are virtually indistinguishable from their parents. With only two casualties this year, well done to mum and dad for protecting them from predators.
As with last year's brood, there seems to be a rogue Greylag among the Canadians, so once again the Canadian geese have reared a Greylag!
It won't be long before the leave us, not quite sure where to, but they have historically always returned, in the new year, to do it all again, we hope!

This is my brilliant dad! A retired golf pro who has turned his hand to carpentry in his retirement years.
For those who have visited Meadow Field you may have sat in (Adirondack chairs) or played with (naughts and crosses) some of his wooden creations. Perfect additions to our glamping offering.
The dovecote is the most recent project, yet to be installed on the farm but we hope it will give our resident doves a cosy nesting spot (once we have figured out how to encourage them to use it!).
Thank you dad for all your support and encouragement and words of wisdom over the years and for being such a whizz with a band saw!🙏❤️

Brightening our daily commutes from May to September, this cheerful and resilient member of the wildflower family, is right at home on roadsides or, as we see here at Meadow Field and Home Farm, in field margins and hedgerows.
Bursting with nectar, it's a favorite for pollinators like butterflies, bees, and hoverflies.

Thinking about your next break away? Well here at Meadow Field Luxury Glamping, your comfort is our priority and we take the “Luxury” element very seriously, without losing, we hope, that connection to nature and the “camping” element to glamping.
We offer a hotel experience with all the benefits of being closer to nature.
Soft towels and bedding are all provided. Tea (herbal, earl grey, decaf too) and coffee, (instant and cafetiere) with fresh milk in the fridge so you can have that all important cuppa as soon as you arrive. A good supply of logs is included for both the stove and fire pit. Extra blankets and camping chairs for use round the fire pit. Bathroom (including spa like shower) and fully equipped kitchen all within the canvas cabin - no hikes across damp fields or shared facilities here.
