What should you pack for the Ha Giang Loop?🇻🇳🏍️

Remember I’ve videos on TikTok with ALL our tips! ❤️

⚠️Remember that we went in March and had great sunny weather for our trip! Your list will look different if you are traveling during the winter/ bad weather!

🧳CLOTHES
⭐️WEAR LAYERS! Bring a bunch of smaller tops that can be layered under clothes so that you can strip off/ add more if the weather changes!
⭐️Sporty clothes for the bike. I wore the same cycling shorts and same sports bra on everyday!
⭐️Cycling shorts are a great idea as you can easily wear trousers over them if you get cold
⭐️BRING NICER OUTFITS! I regretted not bringing ‘nicer’ outfits for the evenings! You will have a chance to have a shower and get dressed before dinner each night so bring a fresh set of clothes! No need to be really ‘dressy’ but a little nicer than muddy sports clothes would’ve been great!
⭐️Dont forget your PJ’s! You will likely be sharing rooms
⭐️Swimming costumes! Theres an opportunity to swim in a waterfall on the last day!
⭐️Over-shirt! I was SO glad I brought my white overshirt as it kept the sun off my shoulders (and therefore I didn’t burn…. Like SOMEONE did *cough* Luke *cough*)
⭐️Warm layers - northern Vietnam can be CHILLY. So bring a warm jumper.
⭐️waterproof coat. You dont want to spend the day like a drowned rat
⭐️For shoes I wore my trainers everyday and my Birkenstocks in the evenings
⭐️GIRLIES - bring a high impact sports bra otherwise those bumpy roads are going to hurt x

🧳TOILETRIES
⭐️Dont forget the obvious things like toothbrushes, razors, moisturizer, face wash etc
⭐️SUN CREAM! Luke burnt to a crisp. Dont be like Luke
⭐️Bug Spray! And we also brought our biteaway product for when we got bitten
⭐️the Jasmine homestays had towels so you wont need one

🧳EXTRA
⭐️I highly recommend you bring a powerbank! Especially for the days out! We use and love it!
⭐️WET BAG! To protect your valuables in a downpour! Essential!
⭐️Sunglasses
⭐️Mask/ Bandanna as it can get dusty
⭐️Plastic Bag to keep wet clothes separate.

We LOVED our time in Ninh Binh (more specifically Tam Coc) so here are some of our recommendations! ⁠
⁠
⭐️WHERE TO STAY?⁠
It’s basically non negotiable that all backpackers need to stay in ! But for good reason as it is AMAZING! We loved our stay there and highly recommend! ⁠
⁠
If you dont like hostels I still recommend staying in Tam Coc. It’s much nicer than Ninh Binh itself. ⁠

🏍️OUR GUIDE TO BIKING THE HAI VAN PASS! ⁠

❓What is the Hai Van Pass ⁠
⭐️The Hai Van Pass is a 21KM mountain pass that takes you along the coast! ⁠
⁠
❓Where is the Hai Van Pass?⁠
⭐️The pass goes between Da Nang and Hue (two popular backpacking destinations)! If you are planning on visiting these places you could consider biking instead of taking a bus! ⁠
⁠
❓How can I do it?⁠
⭐️ We rented bikes through which would allow us to leave the bike in Hue at the end! It meant that we didn’t need to go back on ourselves and would allow us to use the pass as a transport method between two locations! ⁠
⁠
❓What do I do with my luggage?⁠
⭐️ Included in our package with was a transfer service where our bags were taken up to Hue on our behalf. Our bags arrived safe and sound within a couple of hours of our arrival in Hue! ⁠
⁠
❓What does it cost?⁠
⭐️We paid 800,000VND (£28) which included 1 x bike, 2 x helmets and 2 x bags driven up to Hue! Me and Luke both went on the same bike. ⁠

❓What should I bring?⁠
⭐️ As you can see from our pictures - it rained.. a LOT… so make sure you bring a rain jacket! (Or do what Luke did and get a poncho from the side of the road!)! Bring warm clothes, a swimming costume! ⁠

If you’re looking for something to do in Vietnam (especially in the rain) I HIGHLY recommend doing a Cooking Class! ⁠

⭐️We went with and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it! ⁠

❓Is it suitable for vegetarians?⁠
✅YES! I’m vegetarian and our lovely instructor easily substituted every meal for veggie versions! ⁠

5 TIPS FOR TAILOR SHOPS IN HOI AN🏮❤️⁠

We LOVED our experience of getting tailor made clothes in Hoi An! A bucket-list item for SURE! ✨⁠

⭐️Do your research! Make sure you check reviews before entering a tailor shop as its one of the most important factors! We went with Ba-Ri tailors and loved our experience! ⁠
⭐️Don’t budge! Remember that its your item of clothing so stick to what you want! It’s likely that the tailors will let you know if something isn’t possible, and they are probably going to recommend different fabrics/ styles etc! It’s great to listen to them, and take everything they say on board.. but at the end of the day make sure you’re still getting the item that YOU picked! ⁠
⭐️Tailors are also sales people. We LOVED our tailors and they were all so friendly that I truly feel like they are friends now! But remember that they are also trying to profit from you by promoting you to order more and more. I recommend setting a strict budget and doing your best not to go over it! It’s also okay to haggle if you feel like the price is unfair.⁠
⭐️Leave enough time! Out tailoring process took 4 days because we kept adding to our order. But its always better not to feel too rushed so try and leave yourselves enough time. ⁠
⭐️Save money by getting items altered instead of made! If you don’t have the budget to make your own items but still want to try the process don’t worry!! There are many charity/ thrift shops in Da Nang (the next town over) and you could get your items altered instead! Some people we spoke to got vintage LEVI jeans altered for just $5!!⁠
