⛰️ High in Romania’s Carpathian Mountains, the Transalpina snakes its way through misty peaks and alpine meadows, earning its place as one of Europe’s most breathtaking roads and one of our all-time favourites.

Originally a shepherd’s trail, later modernized under King Carol II and used by German forces in WWII, the Transalpina carries centuries of history in its bends. Today, it’s a playground for us, with endless switchbacks and panoramic views, and at 2,145 meters, this winding ribbon of asphalt is the highest paved road in the country.
