This Swiss alpine road, immortalised in the classic James Bond film Goldfinger, saw 007 navigate its thrilling twists in his Aston Martin DB5. Welcome home continent crossers! 🇷🇴

Stunning photos are pouring in from our latest group to conquer the 21-day Transylvanian Adventure. Nine countries in three weeks—riding through the dense forests of Germany, up and over the breathtaking mountain passes of Switzerland and the Alps, exploring the iconic castles of Romania, and soaking in the culture-rich cities of Hungary and Poland.

Heck, they even visited a cathedral in a salt mine and journeyed through areas home to a third of Europe’s wild bears and wolves—definitely a time to keep an eye on your mirrors! 👀🐻

When we said we had riders heading north, we meant it. In fact, these intrepid travellers are so close to the top of the world, that the only thing sitting between their bikes and the North Pole is the Svalbard Archipelago! 📍

Nordkapp, or the North Cape, is a plateau that marks the end of the European continent. Its northernmost point is marked by the globe structure (pictured below) which was first erected in 1978 and quickly became a meeting point for the boldest of two-wheeled enthusiasts. Sitting atop a 300 metre high cliff it’s a remarkable setting for several reasons.

🌅 Between May and July the sun doesn’t set.
🌊 You gaze out at the point where the Norwegian Sea meets the Barents Sea.
⬇️ Riders pass through a 6 km tunnel 212 metres below sea level just to reach it.

So here’s a proud moment for the global Magellan family. For the first time, we can say our riders have reached the top and bottom of the European continent. Magellan’s Nick Dawson has been running this trip for us as a Pathfinder mission. And it’s going so well that we’re now thinking of taking more of you to Nordkapp in 2025. 🗺️

🌍🏍️ On the Road in Romania! 🇷🇴

While our riders continue their three-week adventure through Romania, we wanted to highlight the backstory of its most infamous mountain pass: the Transfăgărășan Highway.

Constructed between 1970 and 1974 under the order of Nicolae Ceaușescu, the highway was originally a strategic military route, designed to provide quick access across the Carpathians in the event of a Soviet invasion. This 90 km road through the Făgăraș Mountains is an engineering marvel, climbing to 2,042 metres making it the second-highest paved road in Romania. 🥈

Known for its switchbacks, tunnels, and viaducts, it was famously dubbed "the best road in the world" by Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson and has become a mecca for the modern motorist. But it’s not just for those of us on two, three or four wheels. Hikers flock to the glacial Bâlea Lake and the areas surrounding waterfalls even in winter, when a cable car will take you to the top of the pass. 🥾

Welcome home riders! 🌲🇩🇪

Our Breathtaking Black Forest tour in July was another classic! Here's a quick recap with some photos from the road:

Days 1 & 2: Kicked off from Folkestone, braving an eventful Eurotunnel to France, landing in Châlons-en-Champagne during the colourful Bastille Day celebrations. Rode through the picturesque French countryside before taking on the iconic B500 for the first time.

Days 3 & 4: Wound through dappled sunlight along stunning Black Forest roads past waterfalls, before exploring the streets of historic Baden-Baden. Optional ride-outs and the chance to visit the stunning Strasbourg Cathedral, Titisee Lake, and Baden-Baden's thermal spas.

Days 5 & 6: Hit the road from Baden-Baden to Remiremont, savouring the B500 one last time. Relaxed in the Vosges mountains with options for spa indulgence or a fantastic mountain ride out before celebrating a birthday Magellan style.

Days 7 & 8: Headed up through France, enjoying our final group ride and a farewell dinner in Metz. Here the group split up, with some exploring Paris in the few days before the Olympics and others heading back to the UK in blue-skies sunshine.

Forging a path through Western and Central Europe, they surely did see some fantastic sights on the way down to the awesome Aegean. With the blue skies heralding smooth roads and plain sailing there were plenty of laughs and lots of phenomenal riding... and just a little bit of beer! 🍻

They experienced the truly awe-inspiring suspended monasteries of Meteora, they immersed themselves in the ancient history of the Parthenon and Acropolis, and they even got to say hello to the Gods of Mount Olympus!
