Towering over the French and Spanish border, the Pyrenees stand as a compelling example of nature’s raw power, with imposing peaks that slice through the sky and valleys which host stories of settlers, pilgrimages and bygone eras. Here the air feels fresher, the vistas more vivid and alive, and the history–woven into mediaeval fortresses and prehistoric cave art–more palpable. When someone first told us that there was a set of Islands where it never averages below 20 or above 30, we thought “Sure, but it’s probably all palm trees and sand and no roads, right?”. 🌴

As it turns out, it’s also a volcanic motorcycling mecca, with roads that rival the Alps, beaches with nothing but thousands of miles of ocean in front of them, and some of the best hotels we’ve found on our travels. 🌋

We are, of course, talking about the Canary Islands, the destination of our first tour for the 2025 season. If you act quickly, you could be joining us there. There’s only one spot left, give us a call! 📞

Is there a person more synonymous with cool than Steve McQueen? We’ve always loved that quote from the Bruce Brown film Any Given Sunday. Anytime we find ourselves questioning what the heck is going on, we remind ourselves to get out on the bikes again, to speak to the biker that’s pulled up at the coffee shop, and to book a week off work and hit the road.

We’ve all got them, those bucket list roads pencilled into a notebook titled “roads to ride before we turn…” 📝

In last weeks newsletter, all about our Guided Ireland, we highlighted a road on the bucket list of many a moto-traveller. The rugged Ring of Kerry–a snaking 111-mile loop around the Iveragh Peninsula which regularly ranks in the top five roads on The British Isles. From sweeping coastal roads, to dramatic turns through the Killarney national park, it’s definitely one to pencil in.

It’s safe to say that over the years, we’ve covered every conceivable corner of the Iberian Peninsula. With year-round riding, perfectly surfaced roads, towering mountain ranges and some of the most spectacular national parks on continental Europe, it’s biker heaven. So much so that you’ll be doing the “biker wave” just as often as you’re not. 👋

Perhaps our most diverse tour in this region, unsurprisingly, is the Grand Tour we do of Spain. If you’re looking to catch a flavour of the many “provincias” that make mainland Spain so special, this is the one for you. It’s quintessential European biking, with incredible routes, unique and characterful luxury hotels, incredible food–and of course–some awesome Magellanites to ride with too. 🏍️

You’ll ride the Picos de Europa across Cantabria, Asturias and León, heading south all the way to the UNESCO-Listed cities of Salamanca and Grenada and soaking in Moorish architecture and world-renowned tapas bars along Andalusia’s sunny coastlines. It’s a tour that’s full of cultural sights too, with plenty of opportunities to dive deep into Spanish history and the fascinating melting pot of cultures that has shaped these lands. 🇪🇸

It’s that time of the year again, the mad scramble for Christmas gift ideas! But don’t worry, we’re in your shoes too, so here are a few things we’d love to receive ourselves.

🧤 A nice pair of gloves is a great shout–we love the protective options from Knox and the leather gloves from Goldtop.

🪖 Wentworth makes a great helmet sling for £29. It’s perfect for those days you want to hop off the bike and hunt for the nearest bakery in that French town you’re passing through.

🔋 A battery trickle charger will save you money over time. We’ve found CTEK chargers great at keeping our bikes topped up.

👂 We can’t stress the importance of hearing protection if you’re touring on a bike. On the cheaper side, we’ve found Alpine makes some great plugs, but custom moulded ones would make a great gift!

📚 For those days when the rain keeps the garage doors shut, why not gift the moto-traveller in your life a classic like Ted Simon’s ‘Jupiters Travels’ or Elspeth Beards ‘Lone Rider’? Or perhaps a coffee table read such as 'How to Build a Motorcycle' by Gary Inman.

Another week of off-road training and shimmering coastal roads! 🇪🇸

Dusty river beds, flowing gravel tracks and awesome coastal stretches were all on the menu as our riders found themselves able to do things on a motorcycle that they’ve only ever seen on YouTube. It’s our favourite part of this tour, following Magellan riders as their confidence continually improves and they begin to see even more of the world opening up to them.

Next March it could be you, training with our BMW IIA off-road guides, and heading into the high sierras to ride some of the best trails in the world. In the evenings, it’s incredible steaks, fine wine and, as with every Magellan tour, great conversations with like-minded folk!

What a weekend! We’ve had an incredible time at the Motorcycle Live Show and the National Motorcycle Museum for our End of Season Party. It’s always great to see our guides and customers together in one room, especially after our best year to date. The orange t-shirts were truly out in force!

This week we’ve got two groups enjoying the sun-kissed roads and bustling bars of Spain's southern coast. Group one embarked on an incredible week of luxury, staying at the incredible La Zambra resort, with epic ride-outs planned each day. We used to fear this time of the year as the colours change in the UK, puddles begin to line the roads and our bikes receive their seasonal quota of ACF-50. Little did we know that just a ferry or flight away was Andalusia, where you can ride year-round on sun-soaked roads and world-class trails. ☀️

This weekend, we’ve got two groups heading south to enjoy the best this region has to offer. Expect photos of sweeping coastal roads, quaint hillside settlements, dramatic sunsets, mouth-watering food and all the small bits in between.

Christmas morning as a young child? Getting snowed in at home? Seeing your favourite band live for the first time? There are only a few moments in life that compare to the excitement of buying your first motorcycle. That unparalleled feeling of freedom, that there’s nothing more than a few drops of fuel between you and your dreams.

We’re often surprised at what our customers' first bikes were. We’ve heard everything from 95cc scooters, all the way to those who’ve jumped straight on an 1800cc Harley and headed into the hills. ⛰️

❄️ Winter can be tough on motorcycles and motorcyclists, but that doesn’t mean we need to pack the gear away, disconnect the battery, and sit around waiting for spring.

Last week, we shared tips on staying warm as the temperatures drop. This week, we’re focusing on keeping your bike in top shape—shiny, rust-free, and ready for the road as the salt piles up! Here are five things we wish we’d known sooner:

1️⃣ Regular cleaning is your best friend. Road salt and moisture accelerate corrosion, so after each ride, give your bike a quick wash and dry. We recommend using a bike dryer, but a towel and dehumidifier work well too.

2️⃣ Use a protective coating. ACF50 is a popular choice, but any protective spray is better than none. These products create a barrier between your bike and corrosive elements like salt and moisture.

3️⃣ Clean and lubricate your chain regularly. Moisture and salt are a chain’s worst enemies, so it’s worth doing this more often than you might like!

4️⃣ Use a trickle charger. These are easy to install and help prevent temperature fluctuations from damaging your battery’s lifespan. It’s a worthwhile investment any time of year.

5️⃣ Monitor your tyre pressures. Cold weather can cause pressure fluctuations, leading to more wear. A pressure gauge is a handy tool for checking between rides.
