Our mackerel fishing this morning turned into something else 🦈 Skipper Andy managed to land this Tope after a young customer hooked onto it and it’s safe to say, the young lads day was made 👌 Quick photo and this beautiful specimen was released safely. What memories made 🙌🎣

We loved welcoming Praze Young Farmers again for a double mackerel fishing charter yesterday evening along with our sister vessel Seahorse Boat Trips in St Ives 🎣
In near perfect conditions, they had an incredible haul of fish and some healthy competition took place between the two boats 😂 Beautiful sunset to round off a great evening 👌

Yesterday we had an absolute blast welcoming Year 1 children from St Ives Infant School! 5 trips up to Godrevy Lighthouse along with Seahorse Boat Trips in St Ives with lots of laughs and great conversations on the way 😀 The children we met are a credit to their families, school and St Ives and we are so pleased they enjoyed their boat trips 🌊🦭

It’s not just fish we catch on our trips 🚮

With skyrocketing plastic production, low levels of recycling, and poor waste management, between 4 and 12 million metric tons of plastic enter the ocean each year—enough to cover every foot of coastline on the planet! And that amount is projected to triple in the next 20 years. Let that sink in for a moment.

We proudly take part in Clean Cornwall Blue Litter Project as a member of the marine leisure industry able to remove litter from hard to access marine area that have previously received no litter picking and logging our data via the app as we go.

When you book a boat trip with us why not take the stress out of parking in St Ives and use St Erth Park & Ride. Passengers can enjoy one of the most scenic train rides in Britain by parking at St Erth and hopping on our beautiful branch line to St Ives Station 😍

It is one of the most spectacular experiences in Cornwall, and only costs £4 for the whole day

It’s been a bit of a stop-start first few weeks of the season with the weather and sea conditions keeping us on our toes but we have had some lovely trips and welcomed lots of customers, old and new, aboard our new Pro Charter vessel. The Risso dolphins have been in the bay this week; always amazing to see! We also proudly headed over to Gwithian on Sunday to show support for the Keep our Sea Chemical Free - Save St.Ives Bay protest

The 2024 season is fast approaching with the earlier Easter period this year! Our bookings are open now with availability from 18th March and we are looking forward to unveiling our new vessel to you all! Tiger Lilly III is a 39 feet Pro Charter, with masses of deck space and therefore a smoother, more stable ride. We can now easily take up to 12 passengers on our popular mackerel fishing trips instead of 10 previously. She also has a side door for much easier boarding. We are in the process of putting the finishing touches on her for that Tiger Lilly feel 🤩

Impacts of climate change

During a very hot, dry summer in 2022 on our way to Seal Island a fire started on the cliff at Zennor Head. The West Cornwall Ranger team worked closely with the fire service to help control the spread of the fire. Fire breaks were cut in and visits from the fire service to wet the fire breaks helped to prevent the spread of the fire, until only small isolated patches remained to smoulder and smoke.

This is a stark reminder of the seriousness of climate change and the need for action. Unfortunately, we could see events like this occuring more regularly in the coming years. One of the devastating impacts of wildfires like this is the loss of wildlife in the area. Approximately 2000 square metres of coastal heathland burned, an important habitat lost for nature.
Although the impact to the habitat is dramatic and the area will take some years to fully recover.

Some close up of PS Waverley in St ives Bay this morning. 🚢

PS Waverley is the last seagoing passenger-carrying paddle steamer in the world. Built in 1946, she sailed from Craigendoran on the Firth of Clyde to Arrochar on Loch Long until 1973.[3] Bought by the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society (PSPS), she has been restored to her 1947 appearance and now operates passenger excursions around the British coast.

Another incredible Twilight trip this evening! Risso's dolphins, harbour porpoise, common dolphins with their calves, Atlantic grey seals and of course, a stunning St Ives sunset 👌 We also even got a rainbow. Fabulous customers aboard as always, what a pleasure to spend the evening with them all 😊 Tomorrow evenings trip is sold out...let's hope September brings us many more beautiful evenings to run them on 🌊🐬🦭 Customer video in comments 😍

On Friday evening, we had the absolute privilege of taking Jordan and Bekah on a sunset trip to Godrevy Lighthouse so that Jordan could pop the question! Bekah had no idea and it was absolutely magical 💞 We wish this fantastic couple all the happiness in the world 🎉💍 and thank you for letting us be a part of your special proposal, we loved it and it all got a bit dusty on board 🥺 ❤️ Photos taken by Skipper Andy but thanks also to Lisa-Marie Brown who came along to take some great quality photos of the trip for Jordan and Bekah 👌
