OZEN Bolifushi
A few pictures of the amazing OZEN Bolifushi.
If you have any questions- just ask!
The photos really can’t capture just how great this place is.
OZEN Bolifushi
The second hotel on our Maldives trip was OZEN Bolifushi.
This truly amazing place is in a completely different style to LUX*. It is a much more traditional Maldivian style with lots of wood and thatched buildings.
It is a completely all-inclusive resort. Absolutely everything is included from the fine dining restaurant complete with wine pairing menus to all food and drink in the bars and restaurants. There is a vast selection of hand crafted cocktails and a choice of premium spirits including several malt whiskies. A mini bar containing beer, wine, champagne, soft drinks and snacks is also included and replenished daily. The only extras are some excursions and some spa treatments ( some are included depending on the length of stay)
Our villa ( Ocean Villa with Pool and Slide ) was very spacious with a choice of seating areas including a lounge with a glass floor for fish watching day and night!
The outside area was also huge and again had a choice of seating both in the sun and in the shade. It had a hammock suspended over the sea which was great for a sunset glass of fizz and a large pool which was perfect for cooling off. Steps led directly into the sea from our terrace. We also had our own waterslide, which was a bit terrifying at first but soon became great fun 🤣
The island is fairly small and easy to navigate on the bicycles that come with each room ( another scary moment navigating the boardwalks - with no edges - in the dark on a bike with no lights😱)
The resort is reached by the hotels own luxury catamaran and takes around 30 minutes from Male.
The hotel has its own house reef and the snorkelling is amazing - definitely fish soup on certain parts of the reef.
Overall this is an amazing resort where everyone you meet is smiling and happy and can’t do enough to help.
If you are looking for that once in a lifetime, special occasion stay this is definitely the place to go. It is not cheap, but the level of service and attention to detail make OZEN
LUX
Some more from LUX* South Ari Atoll, Maldives
LUX
I am just back from a wonderful stay at LUX* South Ari Atoll, Maldives.
We had a fantastic stay and just wanted to share a quick video of our room. I will post more photos later.
LUX* is a beautiful resort with huge stretches of white sand beaches and crystal clear turquoise seas. It has a very modern style with lots of white accented with blues and greys.
There are several choices of accommodation (we stayed in a Romantic Beach Pool Villa) and a selection of board options (we were All Inclusive).
All inclusive was a good choice for us as food and drinks were very expensive ( A glass of champagne was 40USD 😱)
There are several bars and restaurants as well as a coffee and cake shop and ice cream parlour. All food was of a very high standard with lots of choice.
The staff at LUX* are wonderful - always helpful and smiling.
The resort doesn’t have a house reef but this was not a problem as they run complimentary boat trips to the reef for snorkelling.
The island is one of the biggest in the Maldives measuring just over 1km from end to end. Getting around was easy with bikes to hire and golf buggies always on hand. We tended to walk everywhere.
LUX* is reached by a 30 minute seaplane ride from Male (complete with pilots flying in their bare feet). This is a great experience as you get a view of several of the 1200 islands that make up this country
Our final hotel on our recent travels was a return trip to the Datai , Langkawi.
This was every bit as perfect as we remembered.
Set in the middle of an ancient rainforest this hotel really does have everything - an abundance of wildlife including monkeys, monitor lizards, geckos, hornbills, sea eagles (and the odd snake 🐍). Combine this with a pristine white sand beach, a great choice of bars and restaurants and excellent service and you have everything you need for a luxurious, relaxing holiday.
We stayed in a rainforest lodge.
Our room at the Danna, Langkawi is probably one of the best rooms that we have ever stayed in.
It is huge with a separate sitting/dining area, an enormous bathroom with a shower, soaking tub and twin sinks with plenty of storage. Best of all is the private pool with a choice of sun loungers in bot the sun and shade and direct access to the beach with our own designated sun beds. If you are considering a trip to Malaysia, the Beach villas at the Danna are highly recommended
Spending the first night in Sri Lanka at the stunning Uga Residence, boutique hotel in Colombo. Check out my room - I think it is bigger than my house 😀 Maybe I should have turned the TV off 🙉
Monkeys outside our door this afternoon
Definitely worth getting up at 5am for the sunrise river trip today. Saw lots of monkeys 🐒 a snake 🐍 and the highlight was being within a few feet of a herd of elephants and their babies as the walked right past us 🐘
