(5)

Sleeps 8 people and is pet friendly This beautifully refurbished cottage, dating back to the 1800’s, was once the accommodation for the head teacher at the village school and built at the bequest of the influential Palmer family. The church opposite is a Grade II listed, striking, Gothic style, largely Victorian church and has been on the site since Saxon times. The current tower at first floor le

vel contains a Norman arch from an earlier church. A plaque in the church lists rectors from the year 1200 and the side chapel and much of the loose furniture is by the ’Mouse Man’ - be sure to stop by and have a look during your stay. The cottage retains some of the original features and is perfect for families or groups of outdoor enthusiasts. Situated in the village of Easington, it is ideally located for lovers of the great outdoors. Along with the Cleveland Way you are situated on the edge of the North York Moors National Park with its abundance of trails and walks right into the heart of some of the most beautiful countryside in the country. The North Yorkshire Heritage Coast with its scores of beaches, bays and coves such as the historical Staithes, made famous by its links to the great explorer Captain James Cook are also close by. The gothic fishing town of Whitby is just a short drive or bus journey away with its historical Dracula linked abbey which is always busy with many events and festivals including the Goth Weekender and the Whitby Regatta, just two of the main attractions of the year. Its reputation for great restaurants and bars is complemented by 3 miles of golden beach, boat trips and the start of a journey into ’Heartbeat’ country on board a steam train. There is an abundance of fabulous countryside to visit as well as attractions such as Flamingo Land and Beamish Museum, and just an hour away is the medieval walled city of York with its cobbled streets, many cafés and bars, as well as the National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards. Accommodation Details
