Drovers is a Grade B listed building, and is one of the oldest thatched cottages left on Tiree with thick stone walls, deep set small windows, and a traditional marram grass thatched roof. These houses were built to withstand the worst of the weather making them cosy and quiet inside; even in the wildest of weather. Drovers stands near to Loch a’ Phuill, one of Tiree’s nature reserves and looks out from the back towards the cliffs of Kenavara where fulmars, kittiwakes, razorbills and guillemots nest. Sandaig beach is just a mile walk from Drovers through crofts and machair. Lapwings, hares and a multitude of other wildlife are frequent visitors in the Spring and can often be seen around the cottage.
Drovers has been recently refurbished with sanded wooden floor boards and exposed granite stone walls though-out but with modern amenities added. There is a fitted kitchen with oven, hob, integrated fridge and dishwasher. The lounge area has a multi fuel stove, storage heater, smart tv with freesat, bluetooth speaker, DVDs, books and games. In the bedroom there is a double bed with electric blanket, storage heater, and a chest of drawers. The bathroom has been completely modernised with a walk in shower and heated towel radiator. All bedding and towels are provided.
