Anns a’ chlàradh seo bho 1969, tha Ceit Dix (Ceit an Tàilleir) à Beàrnaraigh na Hearadh ag aithris seanfhacal a bh' aig a màthair mu Fhionn mac Cumhaill : "Chan fhaic thu sin gun tig Fionn à Eilean na Cilleadh".

Tha i cuideachd ag ràdh gun robh cuimhne aice air a h-athair agus nàbaidh a' cluich 'A' Cur nan Suidhe Clann Dhubhain', ach nach robh e aice. Tha Ceit a’ bruidhinn ri Iain Peatarsan bho Sgoil Eòlais na h-Alba anns a’ chlàradh seo.

In this recording from 1969, Kate Dix from Berneray (Sound of Harris) recites a proverb her mother used to say to her when she was a child: "Chan fhaic thu sin gun tig Fionn à Eilean na Cilleadh." [You won't see that until Fionn comes from Eilean na Cilleadh]. The Fionn being referred to is Fhionn mac Cumhaill, also known as Finn MacCool, who was a hunter-warrior found in Irish, Scottish and Manx mythology.

According to Scottish folklore, Eilean na Cilleadh was Fionn’s burial place. There are many stories about Fionn and his followers, the Fianna, some of which are on our website. Kate is being interviewed by Iain Paterson of the School of Scottish Studies.

🥳 As t-earrach, bidh Taigh Chearsabhagh air a bhith fosgailte fad 30 bliadhna! An dèidh na ceudan, 's dòcha na mìltean, de thachartasan is taisbeanaidhean ealain is dualchas a chur air adhart ann an Uibhist, tha sinn a' gabhail sùil air ais le taisbeanadh bhon tasglann againn. A' fosgladh ann an Gailearaidh 2 agus sa Chafaidh air Disathairne 1 Gearran, nach tadhal sibh a choimhead tro na dealbhan feuch dè na cuimhneachain a bhios agaibh fhèin air an 30 bliadhna a dh'fhalbh?

🎉 We are celebrating our 30th! Taigh Chearsabhagh has been open for 30 years this spring and as part of our celebrations we are taking a look back through the archives, at three decades of inspirational events, exhibitions and activities. Opening in Gallery 2 and the Cafe Gallery this Saturday, visit our 30th anniversary exhibition and immerse yourself in the archive, flip through the photo albums, and see if you can spot familiar faces from 1995 through to today!

A pecan frangipane tart with cranberries, cointreau, orange zest, and a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg.

It’s one of those bakes that makes the whole place smell amazing—I hope you love it as much as I do!
