We got told off by one of our agents for not sharing enough of our fantastic reviews - so we’ve updated the website reviews page so you can read the views of our lovely guests.
We don’t like to hassle people to post reviews but we do now have a guest book in the property where people can share and we’ve put a few online.
We always make sure to let guests know we’re available throughout their stay and we pop over when they’re leaving to get their feedback.
Everyone seems very happy. Five star reviews all the way and that’s why we get fantastic press and have been shortlisted twice in three years in the Scottish Thistle Awards, run by the Scottish Government’s tourism agency Visit Scotland.
Our 2025 calendar is open to book with prices on the website. It’s a verified secure booking platform.
And we’ll let you into a little secret: if you want to experience the real Scotland without doing battle with bus loads of tourists, check out the fabulous Southern Uplands.

Always the bridesmaid…
For the second time in three years we were shortlisted for best self catering property in the Scottish Thistle awards. It went as well as last time.
Never mind. It’s the opinions of our guests that matter and they continue to deliver solid five star reviews.

We’re shortlisted for best self catering property in the Thistle Awards - the Scottish tourism Oscars - tomorrow night.
We were shortlisted in 2022 too, so we’re probably doing something right.
Our solid five star guest reviews and effusive press coverage suggest that’s the case.
We still have some dates available this year including Christmas, should you to want to celebrate in a luxurious mini castle.

It’s easy to assume that everyone has the Scottish Borders on their bucket list, given the sensational scenery and how much there is to see and do.
Still, a wee reminder. There’s the walks, the cycling, the history, the glorious Southern Uplands, the fabulous locally-sourced food and drink, the whisky, the weaving, the tartan, the fishing, the nature, the big skies, the bloodcurdling Border Reivers, William Wallace (Braveheart!), Walter Scott, the fresh air, the freedom.
Or you could battle it out with the crowds of coach trippers in the Highlands.

By the way, did we mention that we’re shortlisted for Best Self Catering property in the Borders for the second time in three years?
These are the official Visit Scotland awards, run by Scotland’s national tourism organisation.
First time out we were shortlisted in Edinburgh and the Borders: this time it’s the South of Scotland.
Since we started six years ago we’ve been recommended by The Sunday Times, Cosmopolitan, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times and several other publications.
We continue to record straight five star reviews from our guests, which we think means we’re doing something right.
Once again we’re up against some other excellent businesses, but one thing’s for certain: the best of Scotland begins at the border.

The Five Turrets is shortlisted for Best Self Catering in the regional Scottish Thistle awards for the second time in three years. So that’s nice.
