This is definitely a place you should check out! It’s a wonderful walk and beautiful scenery! Wales really is magical!

This is Fly, one of our oldest residents on the farm (Apart from Hugh).

He’s completely motivated by food as you can tell! I don’t even need to lead him, he’ll sniff it out himself all without any problems!

Quickest way to Flys heart is through a bucket of hard feed!

Hey Everyone,

My names is Meg, I’m a 4 month Crocker Spaniel that’s recently just started the new position of Chief Assisant Yard Manager and Official Snack Tester.

I understand that Oscar and Fluffy did an amazing job but they are unfortunately no longer with us. They have paved the way and left a legacy that I can only dream of filling but I will do my best.

My responsibilities include but not limited too:

Testing all dog treats…
Assisting Hugh on his daily chores..
Greeting Guests (I’m a little shy though)
Keeping staff in line,
Boosting moral,
Fetching Shoes,
Eating Cat Poo..

I am looking forward to filling this position and look forward to meeting you all. I hope to spend many years here and over watching all aspects of the projects.

A misty morning flying over the valley.

In the distance, you can see Pen Y Fan and the rolling fog as it falls.

There’s just something mystical and magical about the mornings here at Gilfach.

The last of the summer days are upon us! I have to say, it’s been a pretty good summer her at Gilfach!

The views were incredible today! Especially from the skies!

Misty morning today at Gilfach as the first autumn frost rolls in ❄️

Even as the weather changes, Gilfach can still offer some beautiful views in the morning. They’re even better at the top of the farm where you can see Pen Y Fan peaking through the morning mist.

Here at Gilfach, we’ve recently discovered a mating pair of Barn Owls in the roof of our Barn Loft!

Barn owls are notable for many things – their eerie call, their ability to locate prey based on sound alone, and their subsequent ability to swallow prey whole – and their romance skills can be added to their resumés! Not only do they mate for life, but male barn owls pull out all the stops to impress their lady loves.

They are mostly active during the night and can be seen flying around the property. Plus, you can hear the loud calls of the chicks from inside the nest.. the sound is similar to a screech.. cute, but a weird noise..

The owls are welcome to stay here and we are trying our best not to disturb them. We ask that our guests do the same ❤️

When I first started at Gilfach farm over 20 years ago, it was originally an Equestrian Centre and Riding School.

We decided that we want to create a small haven in the welsh valleys and eventually we became Gilfach Farm Holiday Accommodation. All our horses are now retired and spend their days grazing in the surrounding fields.

Please do not feed the horses, they also may bite or kick. They are horses after all! But you can still admire them and if you’re lucky, you might get booped ☺️ but let’s keep losing fingers and toes to a minimum.. the paper work would be astronomical and I don’t wanna do that 😂

Autum is approaching but that doesn’t mean the views won’t be as breathtaking!

This was taken at around 6am on an early morning in October last year. The way the mist settles in the valley but you can also still see Pen-Y-Fan in the distance.

It’s such a beautiful corner of the world and I love it so much.
