We’ve been busy over the last few months working hard on the the new Garden Wing and we are so excited to share the end result with you!

Our new Billiard Room is now ready for guests of Woodlands House to enjoy with family and friends. As well as the billiard table, you can enjoy a sing around the piano, a game of cards with a cocktail and relax in the beautiful walled garden.

Adjoined to the main house, the Garden Wing includes two extra en-suite bedrooms, ‘The Garden Room’ and ‘The Back Attic Room’ and Woodlands now comfortably sleeps up to twenty-four guest in twelve bedrooms.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

The Garden House is situated in the grounds of Woodlands House and started life as the garden shed. It’s now a perfect little retreat for two and can be booked individually or alongside the main house if you need some extra space for your guests.

Part 12 in our Bedroom Series:

Bedroom 12 “The Back Attic Room”

The Back Attic Room is another new addition to Woodlands House and is available to include with bookings from July 2024.

Part of the brand-new Garden Wing, the Back Attic Room is generously sized and is a versatile room to fit the needs of your guests. The room can be set as a double or twin room and also has a day bed available. The ensuite shower room is particularly special and boasts it’s very own indoor garden!

The room looks out over the Ribble Valley and the terraced walled garden.

Hello to all of our lovely new followers! For those of you that are new to Woodlands here’s a little bit about us…

Woodlands is a step back in time to long summers of croquet on the lawn and champagne cocktails on the terrace before supper and a glass of brandy by the fire before retiring for the day.

Built in 1905 as a gentlemen’s country residence the house sits at the end of a quiet road ten minutes walk from picturesque Giggleswick village. Beyond the gates, the Yorkshire Dales National Park stretches for miles.

Woodlands is a large house, comfortably sleeping up to twenty-four guests in twelve bedrooms, all beautifully restored and furnished in simple early twentieth century style.

Part 11 in our Bedroom Series:

Bedroom 11 “The Garden Room”

The Garden Room is a new addition to Woodlands House and will be available to include with bookings from July 2024.

Part of the brand-new Garden Wing, the Garden Room is situated right at the back of the house and is the only room to look out over the wonderful terraced walled garden.

 The room includes a double bed and ensuite bathroom with claw foot roll top bath and walk in shower.

Part 10 in our Bedroom Series:

Bedroom 10 “The Study”

Originally a space for Mr Lowcock (the original owner of Woodlands House) to look after his affairs during the long summers at the house, the old study has been converted into an accessible bedroom. This room includes a single bed and is situated on the ground floor next to the walk-in wet room.

The study is found just off the beautiful Edwardian tiled hallway and is easily accessible from the dinning room, sitting room and kitchen.

You can imagine Mr Lowcock sitting at his desk penning his letters, pipe in hand gazing to the Yorkshire Dales from his window.

Part 9 in our Bedroom Series:
Bedroom 9 “The Little Room”

When things are busy it’s always nice to retreat to a cosy space to spend an hour or so reading and relaxing. This room certainly offers that opportunity. We’ve named this room “The Little Room” but it should really be named “The Cosy Room”.

Tucked away in the eaves, this room is perfect for those moments when you want a little bit of peace and quiet in a space that is calming and tranquil.

Small but perfectly formed.

Part 8 in our Bedroom Series:
Bedroom 8 “The Kids Room”

Tucked away in the eaves of the house, this room is the perfect space for your little ones. With low hanging beams this is the perfect room for members of your party who still have a bit of growing to do!

The room includes 3 single beds, perfect to create that sleepover feel every night of your stay. The ‘Kids Room’ is on the second floor of the house next door to a toilet and shower room.

Part 7 in our Bedroom Series:
Bedroom 7 “The Attic Room”

This room is special and one of our personal favourites. Right at the top on the house in the converted attic, this room is one of the largest in the house. Featuring a roll top enamel bath, you can soak and relax with a glass of something nice whilst making the most of the beautiful views of the Ribble Valley. This is definitely a room that’s worth fighting over.

PART 6 of our bedroom series:
Bedroom 6, “The Yellow Room”

A peaceful room for one, the ‘Yellow Room’ looks out on the hilly woodland to the west of the house. Open the window wide in the summer to hear the birds tweeting right through from dawn til dusk. This room is perfect for the solo member of your party or the older brother or sister wanting to escape their younger siblings! Situated in the middle of the house, with the house bathroom just next door, this is a conviniently placed, but quiet room.

Today is the Spring Equinox meaning there is finally more daylight than darkness in the days ahead! With birds singing us into the lighter evenings, buds on the trees, crocuses growing on the lawn, tulips and daffodils in bloom and lambs bouncing in the fields, spring is one of the most beautiful seasons in the Yorkshire Dales.

What a perfect spot to enjoy a pot of Yorkshire Tea whilst soaking in the beautiful views and early spring sunshine.

PART 5 of our bedroom series:
Bedroom 5, “The Back Bedroom”

Here’s a look at the next bedroom in our bedroom series. Known as the “Back Bedroom” the room is tucked away at the back of house in a cosy corner next to the house bathroom.

It’s a great room to have you want to escape and snuggle down to read a book. The window looks out onto the wooded slopes to the rear of the house. A cosy retreat.

PART 4 of our bedroom series:
Bedroom 4, “The Old Bathroom”

This room was once the old family bathroom and is now a lovely twin bedroom, looking out over the Ribble Valley and up to Attermire Scar.

The room has been refurbished with features that are in keeping with the Edwardian era of the house, whilst still keeping a sense of comfort and luxury.

This room can be converted into a double room if this is more suitable for your party. Just let us know when you’re booking.

PART 3 in our Bedroom Series!
Bedroom No. 3. “The Middle Room”.

This room has to have one of the best views in the house. Looking through the window, you can see across the River Ribble to the village of Langcliffe. Langcliffe Scar dates back to pre-historic times and you can still see circular-banked enclosures, cairns and quarries.
Just outside Langcliffe is Samson’s Toe, a large eight-foot boulder shaped like a toe. Legend has it that Samson lost his footing while jumping across from Langcliffe Scar and broke off his toe - it remains in that very spot ever since! 🦶

As we approach the month of March and the days start to lengthen, here at we’re dreaming of champagne on the terrace and croquet on the lawn. 🍾🥂

The terrace is our favourite spot to sit with a morning coffee or enjoy the sunshine with friends over a glass or two! ☀️ 🍷

PART 2 in our bedroom series:

Here’s a look at bedroom No. 2. “The room with a view.” With large double aspect windows, this room gives you amazing views over the croquet lawn and the river Ribble to Langcliffe and Attermire Scar beyond. You can enjoy your morning cup of good old Yorkshire Tea from your bed whilst soaking up the views of Ribblesdale. Bliss!

This room also has an en-suite bathroom.

INTRODUCING THE GARDEN WING
Built in 1904 as a gentleman’s residence and large family home for Mr Lowcock there have been many changes to Woodlands House over the last century. July 2024 will mark the start of another exciting chapter for the house. We’re converting the original kitchen garden (an annex that owner David has called home for the past 10 years) into the ‘Garden Wing’.
This will include a large billiard room as well as two extra ensuite bedrooms overlooking the beautiful walled garden. Already adjoined to the main house the new wing will increase the capacity of Woodlands enabling you to bring even more friends and family on your next visit, whilst enjoying additional outside space in the gated walled garden; complete with ponds, winding paths, a lawn and sitting areas.
We’ll be sharing the progress of this development over the next few months so keep an eye on our socials!

Welcome to our new bedroom series! Every Thursday we’ll feature one of our beautiful bedrooms for you to see in more detail.

Here is Bedroom No.1 ‘The Four Poster Room’ (a guest favourite!) This room boasts a four poster bed, en-suite bathroom and incredible views over Settle to the hills beyond. This room is always full of light from the double aspect windows.
