Foodie Friday, lets have a look at the delicious offerings from Spain.
Spain is a country with a vibrant culinary tradition that reflects history. To end on a sweet note, churros con chocolate are a beloved Spanish dessert that has gained worldwide fame. These crispy, fried dough sticks are dusted with sugar and served with a rich, thick chocolate sauce for dipping. Eu officials have confirmed that Britons travelling to Europe next Summer will need to apply for a visa waiver. This will be called the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS)
The visa waiver will cost €7 for people aged 18-70. There will be no charge for children and those over 70.
It will last for three years, or until the holder’s passport expires, whichever comes first.
Passengers will apply online or via a mobile app and most applications will be approved within minutes, although there may be more complex cases that will take longer.
As part of the application process, ‘full disclosure’ is required regarding an applicant’s background, including travel history and any criminal record.

A very late Foody Friday. This week Im talking about my absolute favourite - Greek food.
At the core of Greek food is the Mediterranean diet, celebrated for its health benefits and emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients, and lots of olive oil.
🍇Olive oil is a staple in Greek cooking (the greener the better), used generously in everything from salads to baked goods.
Fresh vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers, along with herbs such as oregano, mint, and dill, are key ingredients that bring flavour to many dishes.
🍇Greek meze – a selection of small plates. The more you eat the more they bring. A meze can be anything from tzatziki to village cheese, stuffed vine leaves, squid or an aubergine dip, plus many other options. Traditionally served with ouzo. You will find the best Meze in the square under the plane tree.
🍇Main courses in Greek cuisine are filling. Moussaka, a layered casserole of aubergine, mince, and béchamel sauce, is a classic. Other mainstays of Greek cuisine are pastitsio, stifado (my favourite beef stew) and many more. Greek cuisine is very much about meat, veggie options would be stuffed peppers (gemista) and briam, similar to ratatouille but much nicer.
Souvlaki (gyros), skewers of marinated and grilled meat usually pork. This is not served in the house, but eaten outside as street food, and an absolute staple for me on airport days. Gyros is served in a pita with tomatoes, onions, meat and chips, with a big dollop of tzatziki.
🍇For seafood lover, Octopus and calamari are common delicacies, although Octopus can be expensive these days, but still worth it. Fish is simply cooked on the grill with olive oil and lemon and will mostly be served with the head. Your order fish – you get a fish.
🍇Baklava, has to be the finest of all Greek deserts and there are many. Look for the Zakaroplastio. This is like a bakery but just for cakes and desserts. You can sometimes get a Greek coffee there, to enjoy with your cake, sitting outside watching the world go by.

SYMI, Greece
Ive visited this island a few times but have never stayed over night, but I will do at some point. Symi was a major commercial centre, and is famous for sponge diving. Grand neoclassical houses and mansions, many once owned by wealthy sea captains line the impressive port on 3 sides.
Pebble beaches are accessible by water taxi, although there is one bus taking you to Pedi. This is not a beach holiday if you are looking to build a sand castle. Symi offers a relaxed Greek break for a person that enjoys the slow pace of Greek life and enjoys the sun, the sea, maybe a good book or two, and delicious food and wine.
To get here, fly to Rhodes or Kos (Rho is easier) and take the ferry across. The island is ideal for a twin/triple centre holidays and has good connections with Kalymnos, Lipsi, Leros and Patmos.

Its Foodie Friday once again, and this week Im looking at Argentina, with the most amazing and once in a life time offer over on Helen Round Holiday Club.
First lets talk about the the food that Argentina is famous for, and to be honest Argentinian cuisine is not something that springs to mind, but if I think back to around 2015, the BEST steak I ever had was in an Argentinian restaurant just outside Guadamar Del Segura on the Costa Blanca, Spain. It was so good, I still remember it.
So what food is this country famous for - well its all about the grill and the barbeque and meat meat meat. Its also a rich combination of indigenous traditions and European influences, reflecting the country's diverse cultural heritage.

This week Im looking at Bologna, Italy. A town I have visited many times.
🍕Bologna is famous for being the home of pasta, Mortadella, a delicately flavoured sausage, and of course Ragu Alla Bolognese (spag bol😁)
🍕Located in the county of Emilia Romagna, its perfectly placed for a city break. You can combine a twin centre with Florence or Parma, Ravenna or even a short stay for the Grand Prix
🍕A couple of hours on the train takes you to the cruise terminal in Venice making it the ideal for a pre or post cruise stay.
🍕Dont forget to check out the hams in Tamburini, famous delicatessen since the 1930's
