I'm a CV writer and, together with Karen Perkins, a career coach, will be at Somewhere Else Coffee House (965 Ecclesall Road) between 11:30am and 2:30pm to offer advice and to help you work through any sticking points.

5 Top tips for a stress free Christmas
1 Be grateful . Anything you experience is likely to be much better than lots of people
2 Be helpful. Give your clutter to a charity shop & make de cluttering into a thing. Be mindful of each object & re enjoy it's story before you chuck it.
3 Be caring Make a plan to look after yourself especially if it's usually you who organises everything. This year practice the subtle art of delegation .
4 Be curious. What could you do in your neighbourhood ? Do you really know your neighbours , bake them a cake & go and say hello, especially if they are elderly.
5 Be creative. Think of all the brilliant things you can do for free or very little at Christmas. Plan a walk in the woods, a bring a dish Christmas dinner ( stress less) visit the Castleton Christmas lights, a DIY BYO Gin tasting event with friends .... Or go and help Cathedral Archer Project or Crisis at Christmas

What career did you want when you were at school ? Is it what you are doing now !

When I was at school I set up a charity tuck shop & ran Christmas parties for local pensioners. Entrepreneurship was frowned upon in the late 70's and we were encouraged to go to Uni, preferably Oxbridge & to meet & marry an accountant. We had little or no careers advice at my school which was a girls grammar. I looked over the school leavers assembly recently & was shocked by the underperformance of my peers compared to the results achieved now by my kids & their year at a comprehensive school in Sheffield . I followed my original career passion in my 40's setting up my own coaching business after 20 years running Housing & Property development services .
