Photos by leader, Robert Anderson on the first 4 days of our Kilimanjaro - Umbwe Route trek, taken on Mount Meru (4556m). The team climbed Little Meru and Mount Meru, before returning to Moshi yesterday for a rest. This morning they have set off for the Umbwe Route on Kilimanjaro.
Ojos del Salado is the highest volcano in South America and one of the 'Seven Volcanic Summits'. We have climbed it on 4 previous occasions. We have a confirmed team for 4 - 22 January 2025 (it's a 19-day itinerary from the UK (17 days if you join in Copiapo) and there's still time to join. The itinerary has been carefully designed to provide sufficient acclimatisation - beware, there are a lot of 2-week trips to Ojos, as logistics make it easy to get high very quickly. Earlier this week our Nepalese trekking and climbing staff completed two days of Mountain Medicine training, with the Nepali doctors who help support our teams once they are in the field. Here are a few snaps from the course. Our first expedition arrives in Kathmandu in less than two weeks! We're all looking forward to the Autumn season!
Congratulations to all 8 members of our team who summited Mount Ararat (5137m) in Turkey this morning. Cold, but good snow conditions.
We have a team travelling to Tanzania this weekend to climb Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro with leader, Robert Anderson. Robert has been leading trips for Jagged Globe for 25 years this month - in September 1999 he led a team to the summit of Shishapangma in Tibet (the world's 14th highest mountain). Together with our superb Tanzanian guides and staff, we wish Robert and the group the best for a successful climb.

Our inaugural 2-week 'Karakoram Climber' expedition flew back from Skardu to Islamabad today and are heading home this weekend. Overall both 5000m summits were climbed in what was described as an "intense" itinerary - some long days, but according to leader, David Hamilton "the team always rallied the next day and were able to continue with the programme". P*k Lenin dispatch 19 July 24
Camp 1 (ABC) 4400m
All team safely back in camp & down in time for lunch! Now airing kit and waiting in line for a shower.
Since moving to C1 a week ago we have climbed P*k Kholm 4700m, done some skills training, climbed P*k Yukina 5130m and spent the night just below the summit. Then after a rest day our attention turned to P*k Lenin.
Setting off at 3am it took 90mins over moraine ridges and dry glacier to reach the crampon point. Unfortunately, Ron decided to turn back having not properly recovered from a dodgy stomach. 2 hours later we were at the top of the fixed ropes, nothing too taxing but a bit of waiting in queues. Although there were 2 short ladders to negotiate.
At about 5000m the wind picked up, seemingly pushing us back down. It’s a huge face and progress felt slow. Eventually the climbing was pretty much done and we traversed to C2 with a final short climb. Just over 7 hours to climb 1160m and cover 8.75km.
Who said this was easy?
Yesterday, after a slow start not helped by cold winds we climbed steeply up out of C2 for c.200m to a col then began a long rising traverse. As with the day before there was a constant strong wind. The final climb to C3 was tough. At 6000m Richard said he’d had enough, Vijay agreed. They stayed put while I pushed on to catch Jimmy and guide Julia. Catching them about 30mins later, we entered C3, 6100m. Jimmy & Julia stopped for a hot drink before making a slight detour to summit P*k Rasdelnaya 6150m
Thankfully, the team was all backdown in C2 by 1600.
After a very windy night we left just after 0800 for the long trek back to the relative comforts of C1.
The plan now is to rest up, try and recover ahead our summit attempt

Here are some superb images taken by Andrew Chong* on our recent Ausangate expedition, in the Cordillera Vilcanota (Southern Peru). The team acclimatised on Jampa Peak and reached c6000m on Ausangate (technical rock in the lower section and deep snow higher up slowed them down). A beautiful, quiet and remote area for the most part (other than 'Rainbow Mountain', which they visited on the trek out). We intend to return next year, but likely will make some tweaks to the itinerary.

100% success on Mera Peak last week. All 9 team members, plus leader, Andy Chapman, Sirdar Geljin and the rest of our Sherpa team. Andy says it's the first time he's had the entire group on the summit of Mera, and Geljin reckons it's only the 4th time in the 47 Mera Peak expeditions he has done. Clearly a strong team - well done!

Javier talks about our history of working together, the development of mountaineering and tourism in Ecuador, the guiding culture and the current political situation.

Head of Ops, Ed Chard, was out and about on Kinder yesterday. Here's a message about the upcoming Scottish Winter Courses season.
Yesterday (26 November) 13 members of our Ama Dablam team summited (8 climbers and 5 Sherpas; Pem Chirri, Ang Rinji, Balde, Mingma and Gyan). Laurence turned back close to the top with Mane. Jamie remained in base camp having picked up something and sadly Jim had already been evacuated from base camp with a chest infection. All in all a very good result for the team! They are now safely in base camp.
Jamie's Ama Dablam team have had 2 nights at Camp 1 and tagged Camp 2 (see video). They're now down in Pangboche and are looking at a summit push later next week. At the moment strong winds are forecast up high until Thursday.
