Tiger the Tom Cat 🐾🐈

Finally introducing our newest resident at the Farm:

TIGER

A 3 year old, previous stray whom we rescued a little over a month ago from the wonderful

So far, Tiger has:

-shown us lots of love as he adores fuss and attention
-frightened us to death by sitting precariously on the landing and teetering over the stairs
-beaten up, hissed, and growled at Harvey, our cocker Spaniel
-decided he now loves Harvey but still might like to attack him occasionally, but this time he might just be playing...maybe
-walked all over our keyboards whilst we try to work
-developed a new "let me in/out" routine of playing pat-a-cake with his paws on the glass door
-realised exactly when dog treat time is and made sure he also gets some Dreamies...or else
-meowed constantly, meanings could be interpreted as "I'm hungry", "please pet me", or "FEED ME AGAIN I SAID I WAS HUNGRY"
-killed his fair share of mice 🙈

He's well and truly settled in, makes us laugh every day, and has been earning his keep as a mouser, which is a somewhat grim, but necessary part of Farm living!

It's a dog's day every day at Shady Hall Farm 🐾

We know all too well that a dog isn't just a pet but a treasured family member, which is why we welcome dogs in 2 of our 3 barns so man's best friend can come on holiday too!

We provide bowls, welcome treats, towels for muddy paws, blankets for snoozing, enclosed gardens so you can relax without worrying about escape artists, 2 fields to use at your leisure for short walks and play, an outside hose for washing down, and our location is perfect for plenty of adventures nearby!

PHEW!!

We like to think we've got everything covered, but here's a snippet from a lovely review from one of our dog owning guests:

"[The barn is] so well thought out obviously by someone who loves to holiday with dogs themselves and had everything we needed for a stress free getaway. The enclosed garden was perfect and meant I could let the dogs out for morning toilet time in my pyjamas without having to put them on their harness and leads."

With February coming to a close it's time to look ahead 👀

March "A month of transitions":

•the days get longer
•the sun shines brighter
•the weather starts doing what British weather does best and who knows what you'll get
•flowers start to grow
•green slowly returns to the countryside

Remember that rain often means rainbows, cold days in the sunshine are better than warm days under the clouds, and change is in the air so let's get out there and enjoy it

Finally made the Friday round up short enough to post on here (yes, I know it's Saturday but let's all pretend together that it's not!)

This week:

-2 property check outs
-cleaning and resetting the barns
-lots of laundry to sort, wash, and dry
-costco trip for supplies
-hot tub emptying, wet vac, and clean down
-emails, emails, EMAILS
-guest bookings and queries
-cinderella scrubbing

Another "what we did behind the scenes this week" at Shady Hall Farm 📽🎬

It's never glamorous, but it's necessary!!!

🪟all the windows got a good polish
🪥cinderella was scrubbing decking on her hands and knees to remove any moss
🛏 beds were made, rearranged, put away, and beautified ahead of our guest arrivals
🧹hoovering, final touches, you name it, we cleaned it
🍰we trialled our new homemade welcome cake of Lemon Drizzle Loaf
👀I promise i wasn't as grumpy as I looked

Welcome to "Behind The Scenes at Shady Hall Farm!

We are always showing you the glossy final product but we thought on Fridays we would show you what we've been up to to get to that shining end product!!

So that stunning mug in the photos is me, Chloë putting on some of my various working caps throughout the week and getting some important behind the scenes jobs sorted!

-pressure washing all the outside areas (cold, miserable, muddy, but everything is looking a lot prettier now!)
-repainting a small repair we needed in one of the barns (and repainting it again because I used the wrong white at first!)
-updating our website, creating a new profile for guests to find us online, responding to emails, and making social media content (my eyes are often burning by the end of the day!)
-putting the room back together again after painting and giving myself violent static shocks from the bedding
-making videos of everything I do to then use for our socials

A busy but non-standard week here before we welcome guests back next week for our first stays in 2025 🫶🏻

It's hard to believe all this gorgeous green scenery is just 20 minutes away from Sheffield city centre but we're here to tell you, it is!

You can't help but leave your worries at the door (or maybe the bottom of our drive as soon as you pull in for your weekend away!) with all this lush countryside surrounding you

Every season brings a new perspective and the colder months like now make for some spectacular sunsets and crisp walks over frosty ground
