An exciting sighting at Elephant's Eye, Hwange! Watch as three cheetahs attempt to hunt a warthog right in front of the lodge. The lucky guest spotted this family of cheetahs from their outdoor shower and radioed Milton, our lodge manager, who jumped into action and filmed this thrilling chase from the waterhole.

Galenia

NEWS FLASH

Disaster strikes – a veldt fire which appears to have started in Montagu town this afternoon has raced along the Langeberg fynbos and renosterbos (which of course at this time of year is tinder dry) and has caused a good deal of fire damage on Galenia Estate.

We are sorry to report that our thatched roofed rooms 1 to 6 are completely burnt out and the whirlpool bath lounge has gone – but we are fortunate that the main house, rooms 7 to 10 and our management houses have been spared. Also we are relieved to report that all staff are unharmed.

The brilliant fire fighters tried their very best but a decision had to be made to evacuate the estate and leave everything to fate. It seems that the fates have been relatively kind to us by leaving us something to build on.

One consequence of the fire is that the electricity supply has been damaged so we are unsure when will be able to open again for guests – but our managers Elia and Sanle will be there on site to help the many guests who have reservations to find alternative accommodation in Montagu.
