Sitting warm and cosy listening to Storm Arwen blow across the sea outside, brings to mind the story of the 12 Angry Spirits; In1750 the bodies of twelve drowned sailors washed up by Spala Gap after a great gale.
As reported in the renowned scholarly journal ‘Notes and Queries’, the local people did not make any effort to give the sailors a Christian burial, but instead dug one large ditch and tossed the bodies in one-by-one, one-by-one, one on top of the other. And to this day, it is said that, anyone bold enough to venture along to Spala Gap at night and in bad weather will hear an ill-omened sound above the wind, that of heavy stones dropping one-by-one on to the shingle beach.

Built in 1216, Beeston Priory in Norfolk, UK is the subject of many local ghost stories. One such includes the unearthing of a lead casket in 1945 which contained the skeletal remains of a man clothed in a monk's robes and clutching a white goblet. Brace yourselves! The next Sheringham Ghost Walk will take place on Wednesday 24th August (this coming week!). 7pm start outside the Two Lifeboats pub. £4 per person, suitable for adults and anyone over 11 yrs who can walk and concentrate for around 1.5 hrs.

Tonight was the first ever Sheringham Ghost Walk, and I had a blast. I hooked up with some old friends and I met some fabulous new ones. The first ever Sheringham Ghost Walk will take place on Tuesday 16th August at 7pm. There will only be a small number of places on this first walk, so if you would like to join us please e-mail now at [email protected]. The walk will last approximately 1.5 hours and will cover approximately 2 miles (whatever the weather!). Suitable for 11yrs and up and those younger who can concentrate and walk for that long. No jump scares, no screams, plenty of mood and mystery... E-mail me for places and details!
