Next up, Location 9 of the Harwich Maritime Trail!

Today's Spotlight: Ha'penny Pier & Visitors Centre.

Ha'penny Pier was a popular departure point for paddle steamers until after the first World War. The Pier Ticket Office is a charming and typical of Nineteenth Century architecture.

The Ticket Office now houses the Ha'penny Pier Visitor Centre. It also houses the 'Harwich and the New World' exhibition which has free admission and gives information on links with early voyages of exploration.

Free guided tours of Old Harwich start from the Ha’penny Pier information snd visitor centre during the summer season on every Saturday afternoon at 2 pm.

The Harwich Maritime Trail is run by The Harwich Society, more information and opening times can be found on the Harwich Society's website.

FOR SALE

City Of Glasgow 11 is a Barnett class RNLI lifeboat.

52' length
14' beam
4'6" draft.

City of Glasgow 11 was built and went into service in 1953, remaining there until 1979.

She has been owned by the same family for 30 years, but ill health forces reluctant sale.

There is a forward cabin with 2 berths, a cabin with seating forward of the helm position, and a good-sized lounge, and galley aft.

A pod has been built above the aft deck, which has a double bed and opening windows. Entrance to this is via a ladder in the lounge.

She has twin Ford Thorneycroft 6 cylinder diesel engines that haven't run in a while, but we're very reliable, taking her to the Hebradies and back to Walton.
Fuel and water tanks have been removed.

Lots of original features from her days in service, large anchors on both sides, sailor VHF and much more

City of Glasgow 11 is in need of some TLC, but for the right person, it's a great project with lots of potential.
Currently on a mudberth at Titchmarsh Marina, Walton, Essex.

£25,000 ONO, but open to sensible offers.

Please contact Graham Lee or Bridget Baines for contact number/ further information.
Thank you.

Extra pairs of hands are always welcome and necessary to keep HMS Ganges Museum open. Join our rota of attendants for one Saturday or Sunday or so per month during our open season and/or on Wednesdays. Please get in touch if you can offer a little time to welcome our visitors or even just help out on occasions. We would also like to hear from anyone preferring to be more involved in the running of the museum perhaps as a Trustee. Thank you.
