With the last of a few small hires now completed and the school trips now finished for 2022, the fleet is now all parked up for a well earned break. On Friday, I had the privilege of visiting a fantastic local business - Hobans 1923 Ltd.

It was great to meet with Richard Hoban, his wife, Gadvoranun, and Andrew Richardson, Funeral Director, at the purpose built funeral home at Kerry Park, Workington to discuss the great quality of service and work they offer and are doing for our local area through employment, investment, and public transport services - as well as the issues currently faced by the bus and coach industry.

From employing 2 staff members in 2017 to over 120 today, with scope for further expansion and employment in the Workington Constituency, this is an exciting time for the company.

I look forward to doing what I can to help Hobans as they realise their ambitious vision to expand their services in our constituency and across the north.

QEGS would like to say a big thank you to Chris from Metcalfe Coaches in Carlisle. When the Year 9 London trip became stranded on Friday evening following a series of severe train cancelations and delays, he spent his evening finding and arranging a coach and driver from Bolton to come and collect the party from Manchester Piccadilly Station, and return them to Penrith in the early hours of Saturday morning. He did this even though his company had no driver hours left to pick up such a big job at such short notice, and wouldn't benefit from the business. Finding an 80 seater coach, and a driver with enough hours left that day to do a 200+ mile round trip on a Friday night is not an easy task. The coach arrived in Manchester within 10 minutes of our train terminating at Piccadilly. Thank you Chris, that was amazing!

IT'S OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY! 5️⃣0️⃣🎊

50 years ago to the day, on a wet Good Friday, Chris Taylor was at the wheel of a 12 seater Ford Transit Minibus, which set off empty on an inaugural run from Bowness to Glenridding.

The route that today we are recreating in celebration. If you see our minibuses today, be sure to give them a beep 👋
