We often get asked as to what this is … 🙂

The pipe is a water outlet (drainage - not sewage!!!) We have several along the Lincolnshire coastline, the biggest being at Trusthorpe.

All the other metal objects buried in the sand are the remains of the old Pier legs. The main section of the pier was lost in the storm of 1979.

When Skegness Pier first opened in the summer of 1881, it was the fourth longest in England at 562 meters.

UPDATE - Clock Tower, Skegness

Repairs are expected to start after the school summer holidays on the retaining wall surrounding our iconic landmark, with the work being completed before the remembrance services in November when thousands of poppies are expected to adorn the Clock Tower.

The Pavilion / Café Dansant
Tower Gardens, Skegness

The name Café Dansant has history in Skegness dating to the 1920’s. In 1920 the previous Sands Pavilion, on what is now Tower Esplanade, was purchased from the Earl of Scarbrough by Skegness Urban District Council. They renamed it Café Dansant and it ran as a café offering ‘light lunches, dainty afternoon teas and iced fruit drinks’. In 1934 it became the Foreshore Centre and was eventually demolished in 1971.

Come down to Tower Gardens for a Classic cars display 🚘 from 10-2pm

Meanwhile Inside the Pavillion we are holding an Art and Craft contest. You can bring your entries down before judging starts at 12noon to put on display.🖼

One of our judges Steve Gould will be there from 10am-12pm with a free art and craft table for anyone to who would like to create art to enter into the contest.🎨

While are judges are making their decisions we invite you all to watch the fantastic Rock Choir at 12 noon by the Bandstand.
