🚜🐄🐎🐑🐖🐐 PLEASE SHARE 🚜🐄🐎🐑🐖🐐

It will soon be lambing time for us here at Little Gran's Self Catering Holiday Cottage Yorkshire & whilst we have had such beautiful weather this weekend we took the opportunity to place some livestock worrying prevention signage on some of the gateways within our land to help educate & hopefully encourage the footpath users to be more aware and considerate of the potential dangers their dogs could cause to livestock whilst out & about exploring and to give them a gentle reminder that THEIR DOGS ARE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY.

We were then saddened to see that some inconsiderate individual whom obviously feels that they are above the law has decided to remove some of the said signage and just discard it within the fields. 🤦‍♀️

LIVESTOCK WORRYING IS A CRIME & MUST BE REPORTED TO THE POLICE IN ALL CASES

How YOU can HELP US
Whist out and about exploring and enjoying the many public footpaths that roam through not only our land but all of the other hardworking farmers fields within our beautiful village and surrounding countryside PLEASE HELP US by either Dialing 101 immediately or by taking photos and video footage to use as evidence to report intelligence on any poorly controlled dogs, dogs trespassing on farm land with no public right of way, dogs which appear to have escaped or dogs being allowed to roam freely & not under close control and especially when dogs are being allowed to stray off the public footpaths therefore TRESSPASSING onto the surrounding PRIVATE land.

We’ve had a busy Christmas period here at Little Gran’s Holiday Cottage, with two early arrivals and a covering of snow. On the 25th, family member Kirsty and her husband Phillip welcomed their beautiful baby girl Edielynn. The 27th saw the arrival of a healthy bull calf and yesterday we woke to a nice covering of snow.

🐄🐖🐑🐓🐄🐖🐑🐓🐄🐖🐑🐓🐄🐖🐑🐓

Why do these barns stand empty,
On this old family farm,
And when did farming smaller holdings,
Actually do the country harm,
He was happy with his hundred ewes,
Few horses, hens and sows,
And never really saw the need,
To milk more than thirty cows,
Most of what they ate, he grew,
As DEFRA looks to blame,
He didn't need the plastic tags,
He knew his stock by name,
But he finds himself retiring,
Because his joints are stiff with age,
His sons moved to the city,
Where they pay a proper wage,
So he's in the hands of agents,
And their joy is plain to see,
Not a thought about his lifetimes work,
Just a big fat sellers fee,
They split the farm up into lots,
Such is their endeavour,
Without the sickening realisation,
Another farm is lost forever,
When the farmhouse sells at auction,
Should he really mind?
When it's bought by the very people,
Who have robbed his pension blind?
Its sold with tiny paddocks,
Because they'd like to keep a horse,
But they love the look of foxes,
So they'll never hunt, of course,
They won't like crowing cockerels,
Or the smell of muck being spread,
The winter sound of gunfire,
Or the thought of game shot dead,
These barns have stood a century,
Will soon be filled with glass and steel,
Developers will leave some beams in,
So it has that country feel,
All the strangers move in slowly,
And all the country skills are lost,
Do we think just about the value?
But ignore the long term cost,
He sells the farm and wonders,
What all his works been for,
And how will these new folks manage,
If there comes another war,
When Sainsburys shelves are empty,
There's no wheat or livestock reared,
They will look for farms and farmers,
To find that both have disappeared.
