Whisby Natural World Centre update: the outdoor seating area at the Boardwalk Cafe is currently closed for refurbishment - we're replacing all of the decking with a more durable composite that's 90% recycled.

The visitor centre and the cafe remains open, but there is no access to the outdoor seating and the towers. The area under the seating and the pontoon will also be closed. All other areas are open so there's still plenty to explore at Whisby this January.

Work will be ongoing for approximately three weeks, but rest assured that we'll reopen these areas as soon as possible.

Would you like to see a special tree planted in your community?

We have 50 FREE commemorative specimen trees to give to communities across North Kesteven, marking 50 years since NKDC was created with a lasting boost for nature. While one tree may seem like a small gesture, they can support numerous different species and help pollinators, nesting birds, insects and provide a beautiful shady spot for all to enjoy. Oak trees, for example, can support 2,300 different kinds of wildlife!

All we ask is that the tree be planted in a public place where it can be appreciated for years to come. Why not ask your local parish council to request one, or a business or group in your community?

Today is our next Riverside Guardians event!

Why not get some fresh air and take part? Open to everyone; we encourage children to get involved. Litter picking is a powerful way to improve our environment and promote sustainability. By removing litter, we create clean, inviting areas for our community to enjoy and protect wildlife and their habitats.

We provide all equipment, so just pop by during our opening times of 10am-2pm and speak to a member of staff 😀

Just a reminder that work at Millennium Green which will see a mile of upgraded footpaths constructed begins on Monday 6 January.

The work to improve access for all, and provide a safer footpath, will see the site closed for three weeks to ensure the project can be completed as swiftly and safely as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience, but the Green will be open again very soon with a brilliant new walkway.

Join our community walk in North Hykeham, today at 10am, to find out more about forthcoming work at Millennium Green which will see a mile of upgraded footpaths constructed.

Today's walk around Millennium Green will start at 10am from the Station Road entrance. Christmas sweaters and hats are encouraged!
