Rona Sailing Project

Rona Sailing Project We are an inclusive sail training charity. Whether you have experience or not, sail training with the Rona Sailing Project is for you. Anyone can sail with us.

Voyages are subsided and cost only Β£215 per week. People come from all over the UK and abroad to sail with us. Operating three custom built sail training yachts the Rona Sailing Project runs week long sail training voyages for people aged 14-25. The aim of the voyages are for the young people to acquire a sense of responsibility, resourcefulness and team work. Each year one of the boats takes part

in the annual Tall Ships Race where Amory Award holders can experience racing in numerous different countries and in some of the most challenging environments. We also run a range of therapeutic voyages for people with disabilities, illness and conditions.

It has been suggested that we create an Amazon Wish List for those things that we would like, but don't necessarily need!

This has become a list of those items but also those thing that we do need....brownies and toilet rolls are essential and will be provided so don't panic!! 🧻🧻🧻 However, if that is something you would like to contribute to then we would be very grateful!

If you do decide to gift something then please make sure you include a message so that we can thank you! We really appreciate all the support we get from our supporters so we send you a big thank you for that! What would we do without you! πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

Happy new year to all our followers! πŸ₯³πŸ€©

We hope you all had a wonderful break and avoided all the Christmas bugs that were going around.

So here we go for another season! If you want to book your young person or yourself on a voyage then we still have availability and you can now book directly via our website. It is very easy!

As we enter 2025 we read a very interesting article about building resilience with young people and we want to remind you of the benefits of sail training and how this can help with issues that young people are experiencing.

Teamwork, outdoor activity, building relationships with peers and adults, fun and the sense of achievement in taking part in a new activity and doing well! Friendships are made that can last a lifetime and we all need friends to help us navigate life and the problems we can experience.

If you know of anyone who would benefit from this experience please ask them to email [email protected] and we can set them on the path of experiencing all of the above.

Come along and give it a go because if you don't try you will never know how great it can be! β›΅οΈπŸ›Ÿβš“οΈ

The surge in mental health referrals among young people has prompted debate among experts about the cause - and the most effective solution

What a season 2024 has been!
Over 1700 people sailed with us on 3 1/2 boats (Merrilyn was in refit until July) which was amazing!
Thanks to everyone for their support, commitment, dedication and enthusiasm that made this possible.
The team enjoyed a Christmas lunch together yesterday but the office will be open until midday 20 December.
We will be back on 2 January having eaten our body weight in pigs in blankets and quality street ready for 2025! We will see you then.
Merry Christmas everyone!!! πŸŽ…πŸΌπŸ₯—πŸŽ„πŸŽπŸ₯³

Thank you to everyone who entered the prize draw to win a Gill sailing jacket at Car Fest.

The winners have now been notified by email. If you haven't been lucky this year then hopefully we will back next year with another exciting opportunity to win.

The flag words of the day were

Friday - teamwork
Saturday - adventure
Sunday - friendship

And those words all sum up the Rona Sailing Project!

Many thanks to Gill UK who kindly donated the prizes. Your flag was flown in honour of your generosity!
