We are an inclusive sail training charity. Whether you have experience or not, sail training with the Rona Sailing Project is for you. Anyone can sail with us.

Voyages are subsided and cost only £215 per week. People come from all over the UK and abroad to sail with us. Operating three custom built sail training yachts the Rona Sailing Project runs week long sail training voyages for people aged 14-25. The aim of the voyages are for the young people to acquire a sense of responsibility, resourcefulness and team work. Each year one of the boats takes part
in the annual Tall Ships Race where Amory Award holders can experience racing in numerous different countries and in some of the most challenging environments. We also run a range of therapeutic voyages for people with disabilities, illness and conditions.

Footwear 🥾👞👟👠🩴
We always say don't go and buy anything special to come sailing with us. And are always asked what is the best footwear on board the boats.
1. You want something that will provide good traction and not slip on the wet deck.
2. You’ll want a shoe that is comfortable and won’t rub or pinch your feet while you’re walking around.
3. It’s important to find a shoe that won’t get waterlogged and heavy if it gets wet.
So what is suitable?
1. Boat Shoes
2. Canvas Sneakers
4. Waterproof Hiking Boots but not too heavy!
5. Sandals but the kind that have velcro fastenings at the ankle and across the foot and not strappy ladies ones!
And what isn't suitable?
1. Flip flops
2. Crocs
These don't provide support, traction and can slip off. You don't want to drop a winch on your foot wearing flip flops (although to be fair you never want to drop a winch on your foot!).
But please don't spend a fortune on sailing boots or deck shoes. These are available online very reasonably but it is likely that you will have something in your wardrobe that will be perfectly fine.
Just don't slip!
And after a 10 month refit, Merrilyn has left the building ready for lots of people to go sailing.

Thank you to Rona II Race Leg 1's challenge of 22 push ups in 22 days to raise awareness of war veterans. Here is our effort with the support of Donald Searle's crew from STV9 which is 22 sailors in one day! It needs to be mentioned that Brid Barrett was the only staff member to take part (Mark was unblocking the heads, Ann has a sick note and we couldn't find Jason)!! We now nominate Rona II Race Leg 2! Go RSP!
