Santiago de Compostela is the capital of northwest Spain’s Galicia region. It’s known as the culmination of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route, and the alleged burial site of the Biblical apostle St. James.

His remains reputedly lie within the Catedral de Santiago de Compostela, consecrated in 1211, whose elaborately carved stone facades open onto grand plazas within the medieval walls of the old town.

Why is Santiago de Compostela so famous?

This famous pilgrimage site in north-west Spain became a symbol in the Spanish Christians' struggle against Islam. Destroyed by the Muslims at the end of the 10th century, it was completely rebuilt in the following century.

Barcelona📍 - the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, is known for its art and architecture. The fantastical Sagrada Família church and other modernist landmarks designed by Antoni Gaudí dot the city. Museu Picasso and Fundació Joan Miró feature modern art by their namesakes. The Leaning Tower of P*sa 📍 or simply, the Tower of P*sa, is one of the most remarkable architectural structures from medieval Europe. It is the campanile, or freestanding bell tower, of P*sa Cathedral. It is known for its nearly four-degree lean, the result of an unstable foundation.

Despite it looking like it might fall over at any moment, you can safely climb all the way to the top of the tower. You won't get vertigo on this virtual tour, but make sure you've got a head for heights when you visit in person.

Kinbane Castle 📍 is located in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, on a headland between Ballycastle and Ballintoy. The name comes from the Irish for "white head", referring to the limestone of the promontory. Nowadays, the castle is largely destroyed.

You’ll find the ruins of Kilbane Castle dramatically located on a craggy headland between Ballycastle (5-minute drive) and Ballintoy (10-minute drive). It’s also a handy 10-minute spin from Carrick-a-rede and 15-minutes from Whitepark Bay Beach.
