👨Join us this November, as we support Movember 2024. Here at the Round About Café, we're all about communities, and how we can support our customers, Movember is all about raising awareness around men’s health, including mental health and prostate cancer. 👨

Mental health can affect us all, Nigel, our Café Supervisor wanted to share his experience of working at the café "I've worked at the Cafe for 10 years now, over those years, I've come across some challenging times in my personal life that have impacted on my mental health, leaving me feeling lonely and down. Knowing I have the Cafe to come to helps my wellbeing, the volunteers and customers share such care and support. I wanted to share my experience to let others know, we're here, whether that's for a chat over some coffee, an event or just some company, we'd love to see you"

We'll be sharing stories, events and more, throughout November, so stay tuned!

Fancy taking part, let’s grow together, share your moustache photos and tag us with

Reclaiming Narratives

Real stories by real people - join Our Version Media for an evening dedicated to showcasing and celebrating stories from the region’s African, Caribbean, and Black British communities. Individuals will share their personal stories, captured through mobile video after completing a Mobile Storytelling course where they learned to film and edit using just a smartphone. Week 4 of our celebration of Black History Month at the Round About Cafe, is Bob Marley – who played at Fleming arms across the road from Café in 1973, which one of our café volunteers went to. His food of choice was Ital Stew we will be selling for £5 from Wednesday.

Here's Adi's experience of the gig: Adi and her husband knew Bob was going to be playing there so they arrived early but couldn’t get into the venue as it was full, instead they listened outside. Bob even walked past them and he smiled at Adi which made her feel wonderful. She describes it as one of the highlights of her life.

It's week three of the Round About Cafe's Black History Month.

This week we celebrating Saints first black football player Alf Charles was a sportsman in the West Indies, not only was he an excellent cricketer he was also good enough to represent Trinidad at football when the inter-island competitions were played.

He bided his time in non-league football – until January 1937 when recommended by a Lancashire scout, he signed for Southampton. He made his debut the following day – at inside-left – but that would prove to be his only appearance in the Football League

To celebrate from Wednesday this week we will be serving our Cafe take of Trinidad Curried Channa

It's week two of the Round About Cafe's celebration of Black History Month and this week's local celebrity is Craig David born in Southampton 43 years ago.

He attended Bellemoor School and Southampton City College. David's father, George David, played bass in a reggae band called Ebony Rockers. As a teen, David began accompanying his father to local dance clubs, where DJs let him take the microphone and the rest is history.

Did you know that Craig David created a recipe with Jamie Oliver so starting from Wednesday we will be making Craig David's Grenadian baked chicken for £6 😀
