Making Health and Wellbeing More Personal: Social Prescribing

Social prescribing helps people improve their health and wellbeing by connecting them with local activities, groups, and support services. It focuses on social, emotional, and practical needs that impact overall health.

Social Prescriber link workers take the time to listen and understand what matters most to each person. Together, they create a simple, personalised plan to support the person in taking charge of their health and wellbeing.

Social prescribing is for everyone but is especially helpful for people who:

-Have ongoing health conditions
-Need support with mild mental health challenges
-Feel lonely or isolated
-Have social or practical needs that impact their wellbeing

By connecting people with the right support, social prescribing helps build healthier, more connected communities.

You can speak to your local Social Prescriber every Thursday at St Albans Church, Tulip Road, 8.45-10.30am.

Look at the size of the cabbages we have available in the Community Pantry this week! Easily big enough to feed a whole family.

Here's some suggestions of what you could make with it:

Spice up your life with this colourful rice bowl. Sizzle turkey mince with a Korean-inspired seasoning of tamari, ginger and honey. Serve with brown rice, chilli-fried cabbage and a pickled carrot salad. A smooth tahini dressing brings everything together.

Indonesia’s favourite street food – nasi goreng. Stir-fry brown rice with garlic, ginger and honey-glazed chicken thighs. Add cabbage and carrots for veggies. Top with an oozy fried egg to complete the classic dish.

On Monday, our singing group, Mansbridge Melody Makers carried on the International Women's Day celebrations and chose 'Battle of the Diva's' as our theme for the week. Elaine Page- I Dreamed a Dream

Kylie Minogue- I should be so lucky
Pink- F***ing perfect
Kylie Minogue- Better the Devil You Know

As next week is St Patrick's Day, the theme is 'Irish bands/artists'.

If you'd like to join in, we meet on Mondays, 6-7.30pm.
