Over the last few weeks I’ve had to say ‘no’ & ‘sorry’ more than before. Why?
Because more people than we’ve ever experienced before have seemingly been looking to book last minute… and we rarely have last minute availability, particularly over the summer.
So, our top tip is to book ahead…. we are currently taking bookings online through til September 2025, and on request will book even further ahead ( we have one in the diary for summer 2026).
Booking ahead gives you many benefits including:

Not sure how I feel about Southbourne getting so much National positive press …..
On one hand it is great that our home of the last 9yrs is being recognised for what we already found for ourselves, and our guests who return year after year keep coming back for
But on the other hand we would hate for things we love about Southbourne to change…..after all there’s no mass tourism, no hotels, no busy sandy beaches and we love our great pubs, cafes & independent restaurants.
Southbourne in Dorset has glamorous huts, superb food and a festival feel that rivals Ibiza — everything to make it an absolute vibe. Plus three more coastal hot spots

Changeover day today at Hengistbury Reach getting the Jacuzzi hot tub and decking area ready for a young family celebrating a birthday with a short break stay over the weekend. OMG what a beautiful warm sunny November day we have been treated to today here on the Dorset coast☀️. Nigel took the opportunity to take his kayak out on the River Stour this afternoon and captured the beautiful scenery at sunset on this short video. Tomorrow is forecast to be an equally sunny day so we are planning a day at the beach with the dogs. Whilst we are fully booked this weekend we do have availabilty for next weekend at Hengistbury Reach just a short walk from both the river and the beach.

Having been fully booked since long before we were able to reopen in April, it’s only now that we are starting to see some availability on the near horizon at our luxury Jacuzzi hot tub property HENGISTBURY REACH. Between November and March Hengistbury Reach can be booked for long weekends (3nts) or mid weeks (4nts) as well as our standard weekly stays, so if you only have time for a short break or want to trial the property ahead of a potentially longer stay then now is your opportunity. We have dates available between 5th-19th November and from 5th December onwards including Christmas and Twixmas. Spring/summer 2022 dates are already being snapped up, with lots of this years guests already having booked their next stay, so secure your choice of dates while you can with just a 20% deposit. Sleeping up to 5 guests in 2 bedrooms the accomodation is flexible to cater for couples, friends and families and your four legged friend is welcome to come too (secure good size garden). Luxurious, spacious and homely holiday lets
Based on the south coast of England in Southbourne Dorset near the Hampshire border, and situated between Bournemouth and Christchurch, within 2-3hrs drive from the likes of London and Birmingham, stay in one of our holiday lets and enjoy all of the fantastic local amenities, with easy access to the hustle and bustle of Bournemouth town. If getting out in the open is more your thing then as well as blue flag sandy beaches you can explore Hengistbury Head and The New Forest.
We have two wonderful holiday lets to choose from, both have been finished and decorated to a very high standard.
Stourwood Corner in central Southbourne within 5min walk of beach and high street, is a spacious character, three large bedroom, two bathroom, ground floor accommodation with separate kitchen and reception room and the perfect choice for family/extended family stays.
Hengistbury Reach is a smaller two bedroom bungalow, with an open plan living area and a good sized secure garden with whirlpool bath hot tub, on the Christchurch side of Southbourne and within a short walk of both Hengistbury Head and the River Stour, ideal for couples and friends, as well as families, looking to spend time outdoors and in nature.
Whilst both properties are dog friendly we would recommend Hengistbury Reach if you have a larger dog and require secure outdoor space.
If required we will provide travel cots, high chair/booster seats, stair gate (Hengistbury Reach) a selection of age appropriate toys and games (including buckets and spades!) Also, not to forget your four-legged friend we can provide a dog crate and toys for them too! As well as saving space when you’re packing, children are always very excited to see new toys (particularly when lots of them have a holiday/seaside theme)!
With so much to explore our holiday lets are available to book 365 days a year. Depending on seasonality and celebrations we like to add little extras by way of decorations for example. If there is anything specific you require please let us know and we will do our best to help.
We are great believers in putting as much effort in with the small things, so as well as being beautifully furnished and well equipped you may also find a freshly baked local treat upon arrival, and with the milk in the fridge you can start to enjoy your stay from the start with tea and cake.
