This week is Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, Maori language week, with opportunities throughout New Zealand to learn a few words. Rotorua NZ also publish a word a week on their page, showcasing popular words you may hear or see during a trip to New Zealand.

and learn a little Māori with us in Rotorua NZ on Kupu Māori Mane (Māori on Monday).

This weeks word has a very special meaning to our region and that is waiariki or hot spring / thermal pool (suitable for bathing). Rotorua is famous for its healing waiarki (hot springs), with the most geothermal and hot pool options than anywhere else in New Zealand.

Early Māori used the healing waters to revitalize the mind and body and today you can too! With amazing options for all our guests, from Polynesian Spa in the city through to Waikite Valley Thermal Pools Springs n Spa in the country and even the locals hot spot Lake Rotoiti Hot Pools - which can only be reached by boat or plane, the options are there for all to enjoy!
