Did you know that The Workhouse, Southwell run a free guided tour about the Reverend John T. Becher, who founded the workhouse back in 1824? The 2 hour walking tour runs every Wednesday at 10.45am, starting from the workhouse and takes you to various sites around the town which are important to his story. Having done it this morning, we can heartily recommend visitors and locals alike joining one, to find out more about this influential character who has had such an impact on the town and on social policy throughout the country.

Our thanks to all those involved in organising this and especially Peter Milnes and Annette Hambidge, who did a fabulous job bringing to life the Reverend himself and a colourful workhouse character!

Recent changes in fire safety regulations mean that accommodation providers need to ensure guests can easily exit the property in an emergency, without needing to scramble around for a key. A big thank you to our local locksmith, Stephen Dakin, for changing all our locks to thumb turn exit mechanisms, to help keep our guests safe!
