Whilst the British summer is being a bit of a spoilsport, we were treated to a balmy evening on Wednesday - still 20* at 8pm, and calm waters at Southwold 🌤️

Diesel the dog and his lovely family stayed at No1 last week.

They made the most of the glorious weather, and also took a tour up the lighthouse (tours include a free Adnams drink and a 10% discount voucher at the Adnams shop). Getting to the top will hit all your Garmin goals with an impressive 113 steps up the spiral staircase!

We had a lovely ‘thank you’ with some flowers from The Southwold Flower Co., and a bottle of Coronation Gin from Adnams - but honestly, to us, it’s the fact you’ve had a great stay that makes it all worthwhile!

Happy, sunny, Easter weekend - from Southwold 🌅

30 miles north, along the coast, is the beautiful village of Winterton-on-Sea, which was home to family members for more than 40 years.

A year ago, we went back to visit, and despite the huge erosion to the sea, the beaches and dunes are still break-taking.

Early Spring, seals come ashore to give birth. The photos I took were with a long lens, as you have to respect these beautiful creatures, and give them space.

If you’re an enthusiastic cyclist, you can be in Winterton from Albert Terrace in 2.5hrs, with incredible coastal scenery, enroute.

We walked from No1. Albert Terrace down to Southwold Harbour, via the golf course, stopping to take in the beautiful scenery. Such a sunny treat after the snow of yesterday! ❄️

We then turned right from the Harbour and headed for Old Hall Southwold Cafe & Walks, where we were able to sit outside in the beautiful sunshine. A coffee, hot chocolate, bacon and Brie panini with a bucket of fries may have been consumed….! The food was really tasty and a welcome rest to take in the beautiful Spring scenery.

Old Hall Cafe is a 25 minute walk from No1. and from there you can either take the 2-hour gentle Harbour route along the River Blyth or a 1-hour marshlands walk, back towards Southwold.

Yesterday’s walk took us from Albert Terrace through the grounds of St Felix School, across the marshes to Southwold Harbour, over the bridge and along the path that leads to Walberswick Beach.

We stopped at The Tea Shed for the best tea and flat white around, and were joined by a very friendly Robin!

The weather today was mixed, but still very enjoyable, lots of sea birds along the way and plenty of fresh air on our 11km route.

If you’re a fan of walking, cycling, photography and/or good ale, the Suffolk coast is the gift that keeps giving!

A 3hr bike ride took us from Alberts to Dunwich, stopping at The Ship at Dunwich for a pint of Adnams beer.

On the way back we stopped on the reed beds by the old wind pump to watch a beautiful sunset.

We still have lots of Spring and Summer availability at Albert Terrace. A perfect base for your coastal adventuring. The new booking link is in our bio.
