A wee reminder that we're heading off to the caravan show today. The office will be unmanned from this morning though we will be responding to emails while at the show. The wardens remaining at the park will check on phone messages during the day.

FURTHER UPDATE

Graham has been out and about again today and has advised that while there is still a lot of debris around, there is no damage to any holiday homes that he is aware of.

We will know more on Monday when we get a proper chance to inspect everything, which will likely take all day.

Please bear in mind that from 12 noon on Friday until 8.30am on Monday, Graham is doing this in his own time and despite being nagged to do so, is very reluctant to take any time back for all he has been doing.

UPDATE

The winds at the park are at 80mph according to the Met Office, so conditions are not great.

Graham has had a walk around the park and advises the following -

- he can't find any damage to holiday homes
- there is a tree down covering the road at the bin compound area
- he has removed enough of the tree to allow vehicles to pass but can't do more
- he has put hazard tape around the tree section he can't move
- there are some fences and branches down, though nothing to be concerned about

If anyone is considering visiting the Park over the weekend, we would ask that you exercise caution and stick to the 10mph speed limit as there will be debris on roads that we can't clear until we return on Monday.

We would recommend leaving vehicles in the main car park as we find from experience that we will be spending a few hours on Monday clearing the roads of debris from branches, sheds and tables and chairs that haven't been secured to deckings.

The entrance and access to the main car park will always be a priority in case emergency services ever need to enter.

It will start to get dark shortly so it's unlikely there will be any further update today.

Stay safe and wait for the storm to pass.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

There are Red and Amber weather warnings right across the Central belt, suggesting travel tomorrow will be dangerous......, tricky and slow at best.

The forecast for St Andrews has wind gusts in excess of 80mph, rain and a temperature of minus 4, so not really holiday weather..

The Met Office is warning people in the area to avoid driving if they can.

We have therefore decided to tell Craigtoun Meadows staff not to come to work tomorrow in the interests of their safety . Our emails will be monitored during our normal working hours of 9am til 12 noon, remotely.

The park will remain open for those who need to visit.

As over half the population of Scotland is under a red warning, others amber and everyone else yellow, this storm will touch everyone.

It's all a bit mucky at the moment but that's all the concrete down for the larger lodge pads in Arnsbrae. Just one more for the smaller lodges and that is scheduled for Monday.

Then the clean up can start!

Upgrade work in touring is also ongoing.
