Yesterday Charlotte was in Lahneck Germany 🇩🇪

She got to visit Lahneck castle in the evening which was really special.

Lahneck Castle (German: Burg Lahneck) is a medieval fortress located in the city of Lahnstein in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, south of Koblenz. The 13th-century castle stands on a steep rock salient above the confluence of the Lahn River with the Rhine, opposite Stolzenfels Castle, in the district of Oberlahnstein. Its symmetrical plan, an oblong rectangle, is typical of the later castles of the time of the Hohenstaufen. The pentagonal shape of the bergfried is rare for castle towers.

🇩🇪 Yesterday Charlotte went to Heidelberg and Rüdesheim 🇩🇪

Visiting the Majestic Castle in Heidelberg

Heidelberg is located on the Neckar River, at the point where it leaves its narrow valley between the Oden Forest and the Little Oden Forest, and enters the wide Upper Rhine Plain. The old town lies in the valley, the end of which is flanked by the Königstuhl in the south and the Heiligenberg in the north. The majority of the population lives in the districts west of the mountains in the Upper Rhine Plain, into which the city has expanded over time.

In the evening we arrived in Rüdesheim, we went on an excursion to get an authentic Rüdesheim Coffee

The hot beverage contains three sugar cubes, local German Asbach brandy which is heated and set alight
Strong coffee is added next, and the drink is then topped with a vanilla sugar sweetened cream and chocolate shavings. It is a hot and creamy, delicious treat!

🛥 Yesterday Charlotte was in Strasbourg 🇫🇷 🛥

Strasbourg is the perfect – walking a fine tightrope between France and Germany and between a medieval past and a progressive future, it pulls off its act in inimitable Alsatian style.

The Cathedral is beautiful and they are getting ready for the Christmas markets.

Today Charlotte went on a full day excursion to Lake Lucerne.

Did you know all excursions are included with your AmaWaterways River Cruise?

We got to visit the iconic Lion Monument which depicts the figure of a dying lion.
We also went on a walking tour of Lucerne admiring the cobblestone streets, squares with many fountains.
Stopping at a chocolate shop along the way😋
