Cyprus - The Island of Aphrodite 🏖️

A bit of a sentimental trip, I took my mum back to the Sunrise Beach Hotel where she had been going with my father for over 30 years. This was her first time back in 15 years, she is now 84. We arranged to meet friends she hadn't seen since her last trip out to the island. Along with this we were going to be able to scatter some of my dads ashes in a place that was very special to him.

Where did we stay? Sunrise Beach Hotel 4*
https://www.sunrisehotel.com.cy/ which now has a neighbour called the Sunrise Pearl tihs is a 5* Hotel and deserves that rating. Back to the Sunrise Beach. It continues to attract a real mix of nationalities who all seem to return year after year. What more could you want sun, sea, great food, good service and a strip that can give you entertainment until the early hours of the morning.

Protaras has the most beautiful beach of golden sand and crystal clear Mediterranean sea even my mum who cannot swim ventures into the sea!! The additional of the path along the back of the beach is a real advantage and you can take a walk in either direction towards Paralimni or Cape Greco.

I'll add some more about the trip but I'm going to give you a few photos of the beach to just show you how amazing it is and a picture of my mum ❤️

Two-Days in Split, Croatia.

Split is Croatia’s second-largest city has plenty of things to do…During this two-day itinerary, you can see many of the top attractions in Split itself and even tick off a bucket list adventure!

Day One

📍Diocletian’s Palace
Diocletian’s Palace is the most famous cultural and tourist attraction of Split, Croatia. Although called a palace, it is more like a big fortress. today forms about half the Old Town of Split.

📍Walking tour of the complex
There are no free walking tours sadly, but this will be worth every penny. The tour will lead you to parts of the palace that you would not find by yourself. The place is a maze.

📍Old Town
People’s Square (Narodni Trg) is the heart of the Old Town. Cafes and restaurants spill out into the square and one of the highlights of a visit here is gazing up at the old town clock.

📍 Saint Domnius Cathedral
Consecrated as a cathedral at the turn of the 7th century AD, it is considered to be the oldest Catholic cathedral in the world that remains in use. If you’re feeling brave, you can climb the 200 steps to the top of the bell tower and see some amazing views of Split in every direction.

📍Marjan Hill
It’s another climb, 314 steps to be precise. You will be thankful for the comfy shoes you decided to wear. Once at the top, take in the views of Old Town.

📍Riva Promenade
Located along the seafront in the heart of Split, the promenade is lined with tall palm trees, bustling cafés, and shaded benches.

Day Two

📍Krka National Park
You are going on a day trip to Krka National Park. Worth visiting solely to admire the power and beauty of Skradinski buk, the park’s most famous network of waterfalls. But the park also boasts six other waterfalls on the Krka River. Don’t forget your swimwear.

Two Days in Venice ✨

Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces.

Day One

📍The colourful houses of Burano
The perfect picture moment! The island’s history as a fishing community. Venice Lagoon’s thick fog made navigating a challenge for local fishermen. To find their way back to town, they painted the houses in bright colours to stand out in the mist.

📍Libreria Acqua Alta
The name itself even means “Book Store of High Water.” You have to see the bookstore that due to flooding keeps its books in bathtubs and a gondola! This whimsical place needs to be seen and experienced.

📍Caffe Florian
Italy is known for its coffee. With every sip you enjoy, take in the rich history and breathtaking interior, a place where Venice and the world meet.

📍Grand Canal
Enjoy a Gondola ride and take in the sights from the water. Another alternative is the Vaporetto, aka Venetian water bus. Do both! Enjoy the afternoon on the water.

St. Mark’s Basilica is ridiculously beautiful–and perhaps one of the most unique churches in Italy. Built mostly in a Byzantine style with Venetian twists. A sight to behold.

📍St. Mark’s Campanile
The lovely tower standing tall in Piazza San Marco is St. Mark’s Campanile, and while the tower itself is certainly worth a few photos, it’s the view from the top that truly deserves to be considered one of the most beautiful places in Venice.
