In Budget / Out of Budget?
This week, guests have rebooked because our prices are ‘very reasonable’.
This week, someone commented that we are ‘sooooo expensive’.
If you take a look at a property and think ‘wow that looks amazing’, the price will be more than a place that is not amazing. If you look at availability, and there isn’t much, the host probably has it spot on.

Does The Perfect Dog Friendly Lakeside Retreat have THE best view from a hot tub? We think so. South facing, at the waters edge, no light pollution for star gazing at night.

Here at The Retreat, we can sleep up to 5. We have a king width bed with bath en-suite, which is a lovely room. In addition, there is a second room which can be a twin or king. There’s not much space around the bed, but you’ll get a good night’s sleep! And in the lounge, a fab 3ft click clack sofa bed. With a second bathroom with walk in shower, The Retreat can comfortably accommodate families and friends.

Last night Tallington Lakes put on a display of fireworks. We all had plenty of notice, and it lasted about 20 minutes. I hear it looked beautiful over the lake. I was inside, with Tessa wrapped in a blanket and covered in cushions to try to reduce her fear. As a Bosnian rescue, she’s afraid of bangs, but for her, that’s it now for bonfire weekend, as we aren’t near any other displays.
What tips do you have for reducing the stress of fireworks?

Visit Stamford:

🌧️ Cinema in Stamford Arts Centre
🌧️ Independent shops & food/drink treats
🌧️ Grab a brolly for a tour with Stamford Sights and Secrets Tours
🌧️ Take the train from Stamford’s pretty station and visit Oakham, or Melton Mowbray (market day is Tuesday)

Visit Spalding:
🌧️ Expand your vinyl collection at Uptown Vinyl Records
🌧️ Go stare at owls at Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre
🌧️ Grab a bargain at Springfields Outlet Shopping & Leisure

At the lake:
🌧️ A brisk 5km walk round the lake (clockwise) with refreshments at Lakeside Bar & Restaurant (dog friendly).
🌧️ Have a go at water sports via the Tallington Lakes activities centre.
🌧️ Soak in the hot tub, grab a takeaway, watch a film, eat too much cake.

With so little light pollution here, you can watch the sun go down and the stars appear.

We have quite a few couples book - maybe it’s the comfortable and peaceful bedroom with king size bed & bath en-suite, or the second double bedroom for those who like more space at night…maybe the home from home living space with smart tv and fully equipped kitchen, or the tranquility….but I think it’s the hot tub. It’s such a good size, you might have to hang onto each other so you don’t float away!
So if you have an anniversary, or are planning a surprise proposal, let us in on your secret, and we will help to make it special! 🥰

How many dogs have you got? They are all welcome here! With an enclosed grassed garden (4 ft picket fencing) , and dogs allowed on furniture you can all relax….no wonder all our reviews are 5⭐️!
PS they can only access the jetty with your permission unless they can open gates themselves.

You don’t often see a photo of *ME* on this page! Today I visited Springfields Outlet Shopping & Leisure, which is only a 20 minute drive from the lodge. With the fountains and gardens, and a good range of quality shops, this would be a great place to visit. Includes a garden centre too, which is where we found a fresh cream meringue for our brekkie!
