Aruba, Dutch Antilles….

Today we took a stroll along the coastline from the port to find a lovely little secluded bay about 20 minutes from the ship.
Lovely clear waters for snorkeling, and lots of Brown Pelicans joined us in the water.
Sometimes just a simple beach day is all you need.

Our first day of 2025 spent in Curacao, Dutch Antilles 🏝️
Started with a trip to the stunning Hato Caves where Elliott got to see hundreds of fruit bats, and learn about Stalagmites & Stalactites.
Then on to a beach club at the beautiful Mambo Beach for lots of swimming in the crystal clear waters, chill time and of course I had to sample a Blue Curaçao Cocktail (considering the only distillery is here on Curaçao 🍹😉)

Jet2 are to launch a new summer seasonal route to the Italian island of Sicily from Newcastle International Airport in 2026.

Starting on May 26, 2026 Jet2 will operate a once weekly flight to Palermo with package holidays on sale now.

Flights will operate every Tuesday as follows:

Newcastle 07:40 Palermo 12:10
Palermo 12:55 Newcastle 15:40

The new route will operate until November 3rd 2026

Summer 2026 will be Jet2 and Jet2holidays’ largest Summer Sun programme to date from Newcastle International Airport and, during peak periods, more than 130 flights will depart every week from the airport with nine-based aircraft.

Sicily becomes the fifth new destination announced by Jet2 in 2026 from Newcastle, with Agadir, Barcelona, Porto and Preveza previously announced in September.

I’d say when booking holidays try to keep an open mind.

We usually go for a beach based hotel in the Canary Islands but this time we’ve opted for a cruise around the Canaries but also incorporating Madeira.

We’ve never been to Madeira before but can’t wait to take Elliott on the Toboggan, and see all of the lovely gardens on offer 🌺

The full board cruise was literally half the price of our normal beach based hotel, hence my advice KEEP YOUR OPTIONS OPEN for the best deal 😉
